I felt this one. My mother would refer to these storms as toad-stranglers. I am not sure where that idiom came from. Maybe some fuel for your next poem. A vivid image painted here. Magnificent poetry!

Sending you my best today as always,

Yep, we called them toad-stranglers, too. Thanks so much, Sally.

What a challenge. You have done a beautiful job on this poem following the three octave style. I like the way you follow the nature themes in your posts. You have a real mother nature soul. Thanks for sharing.

This is a bit of a marathon, but you've handled supremely well. I've written a couple of these awhile ago. But this is superbly tackled with all the skill of a wordsmith, beautifully written an excellent theme and an impressive post, well done, blessings Roy

Such wonderful descriptions here of the stormy anger and the beating the woodland takes when the rain falls heavily. I'm loving the form and the rhymes and flow, your brought the storm and the aftermath here, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Wow! So well done!! Your Ottava Rima gives us such a dramatic recounting of a storm and I really liked the personification in "The wind was howling loud profanities." And I really liked the ending where all is peaceful and calm again as "another nature's battle has been won."

This is a excellent octtava rima. After reading I feel like I've been in the woods through a violent storm. You have described the storm so well and in great rhyme. The last verse is the calm afterward and shows the strength of the ancient forest to withstand such violence.

Hello Yvonne.

Your descriptions of the rain in this poem are really well done. I particularly like the line "while angrily attacking windowpanes." There is a great verbal image of blowing rain up against a window. The poem is well written per standard, but the best part is the imagery.

Robert

You did an excellent job with this complex style, Yvonne. Your picture and color scheme are perfect for your well thought out nature poem. Your line are smooth, the end rhymes are great, and the personification of the forces of nature is super. Great use of alliteration of s, c, r, t is evident, too. You described this battle well. The final few lines end on a positive note of the forest standing stall despite a few limbs that suffered and the loss of leaves on some of the trees. This is one of your best nature poems which you are a master of writing.
Respectfully, Jan

Hello Yvonne,
What a lovely poem. There is so much strength in a storm. The trees of the forest often give each other shelter, and in some cases the roots are intertwined. I always hate to see trees removed for a building lot. If too many are taken, the ones left behind often don't have what it takes to stand alone. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.
Tom

Thank you. I hate seeing a tree cut up when clearly the tap root is still intact. People are simply too ready to cut a tree down.
