At three I muse I was even walking let alone plotting a diabolical plan as to hide something from anyone unless it was broken, and then I likely looked like Eve when God asked whetehr she had partaken of the fruit of that tree.

Tom my son walked at eight months and he was applying for a job at three. just kidding aboug the job. He was getting into a lot of trouble at three and I'm pretty sure you were too. I remember my third birthday well because I had to follow a knitting thread all over the house to find my gifts. I got tricycle and red wagon.

It's funny (or maybe maudlin) when we look back at our past, especially the years when we are forming our personality and discover we might not have been exactly the person we thought we were. I can't even imagine using the word devious to describe you, but it sounds like you just might have had a brush with it. Glad you found the real Beth, the one we all love. Though I have put my favorite collections away, just in case you drop by some day...just joking.

Than you Carol. I didn't have a streak of jealousy and desire for revenge. It took a while but I findly got control of it. LOL

Surely, you're not silly enough to think I'd say anything silly enough to get you offside. I've just read how you get even. Suffice to say, I'm now a Detective specialising in cold-cases and this one rings a bell. Your friend, Linda lodged a civil case against you and the case was handed to me. I now know your computer address, an' I'm coming to get you. See who gets the last laugh. The Long Arm of the Law. Linda's Dad.
A really good write.

That case you're pursuing is really stone cold. Now only would Linda's dad be coming after me from the grave but even Linda has passed on. You're funny. Thank for reading. I got a chuckle from your comments.

Very interesting that you were/are able to self-diagnose 'and' self-adjust. But probably more importantly, that you recognized the deviousness as a flaw in the first place. I fear that many would never come to that acknowledgment.
Best wishes.

Thank you for reviewing my story about the doll. I did have regrets and learn to never to something like that again.

The desire to get even sometimes starts young.
The Doll
BethShelby, I understand how you felt when you were a child, wishing you had a friend. Yes I was one of girls in need to have friend. I like how you pressed your self with these lines--
I had no one to play with. Only then, did I feel a degree of shame. I'd done a bad thing, but I wouldn't be punished, because my flawless plan had left me looking innocent.

Thank you, Gert. I knew better but and felt bad about what I done. Thinking back, I wonder why I was so upset because she refused to let me touch her doll. I never touched it when I had a chance. I just didn't want her to have it either.

Beth,
You are most welcome.

I don't think it applies to you, at al, Beth. Granted, it was a bit devious what you did, and you're brave to admit it, but from everything I've read from you so far, I would say you definitely grew out of that one. This is a great entry. All the best of luck. Ulla:)))

Thank you, Ulla. I appreciate the review. I still have plenty of imperfections, but I don't think that is one of them any more.

I can't imagine you and the word devious ever being in the same sentence. But I guess, we all have some different character traits that we would just as soon not be shown to others. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the review and comments. I had to think seriously about whether or not I wanted to do a true confession to that particular negative character trait. Since I think I've overcome it, I decided I might as well admit it. LOL You didn't think I was flawless, did you.

I thought, and still think, you are probably as close as any of us get to flawless. :-)

A very interesting story told through the eyes of the child. You have beautifully penned your thoughts, feelings of the child. Smooth narration that draws the reader in. I thoroughly enjoyed your story. Good luck!

Interesting. A spoiled little girl. Mother had a 41 ford left by my brother before he shipped overseas. Cool car. You had an interesting childhood. Thanks for sharing, Beth.

Thank you, Chuck. It wasn't my fault I didn't have siblings. Of course I got all the attention and I'm sure I wouldn't been so quick to react to the word "No!" if I'd had siblings, who would let me know everything wouldn't always go my way. I'm not proud of what I did that day. I just told it like it was. LOL

LOL. I understand. Been there, done that.

Hi there,
This is a great little piece you've crafted here. The tone is very conversational, very readable and drew me in.
"My doll," she screeched, "My new doll! - technically the word my after the speech tag should be lower case as the previous hasn't been closed off.
