An interesting chapter. Looks like Welcher is going to be in a lot of trouble. He better watch out for enemies in the shadows. The elderly couple seems to have caught the fancy of Samantha. Loved the opening, Carol. The poetry in your prose came out in the great scene portrayal. And I like how Samantha envied the happy and so mucn in love older couple. I am wondering if the grandfather will recognize Samantha since she had so much cosmetic surgery that Welcher didn't recognize her.

There is more to Welcher's evil than we knew before. He has enemies everywhere, and not without reason apparently.
I did get a bit confused in the dialogue section after "Accident? Highly unlikely", trying to figure out who was speaking, but otherwise very well written and interesting development of plot, and connections between characters.

I did get a bit confused in the dialogue section after "Accident? Highly unlikely", trying to figure out who was speaking, but otherwise very well written and interesting development of plot, and connections between characters.

This is a bit of a mixed bag, it looks like Welcher has a whole heap of bad things to answer, yes, even those among the so called police officers, and those that are elected, who are virtual politicians really, and it they're crooked ones, they will really throw the cat among the pigeons, well done Carol, blessings Roy

You describe these characters well and they seem to have history to cause friction like the Sheriff and grandpa Henry. I hope she gets to have the photos taken by Henry to help solve the crime.
