You're starting off with a bang. Just as I was stretching my mind to remember the last scene of the last book, you gave me Garth's statement. That's a very clever way to get us up to speed. If this were in print, I'd just indent his whole statement. But that doesn't work here, so you might want to go through your quotation marks and make sure you have " at the beginning of each paragraph and ' . . . ' for interior quotes. You've also used Woodman and Woodhouse, and I can't remember which you settled on before. I'll be waiting for the next chapter.

Forgive me please for my poor display of gratitude and appreciation. I truly am grateful for all your time, your review and your thoughtfulness. I like the way Garth's statement summarizes the plot thus far, in case someone missed your opening segment. Great writing that moves the plot forward just enough to maintain reader interest. I'm enjoying this story. Blessings. Carol

This is very good. I'm glad you took the time to explain the scene. The way the previous post ended caused a few problems. When writing a sequel it needs to stand on it's own, meaning, if the reader hasn't read the previous novel, the still can follow the story line. I like this.

I was afraid new readers and past ones might have forgotten the connection, so I felt it was necessary to repeat the last book's ending.

At least Allie and Garth are FBI agents. They were almost at the crime scene where Allie's sister got shot. We don't know what happened to her. It is revenge in an elegant way. I would like to know more.
