Lovely presentation. That's beautiful artwork. Great thought for this 5-7-5 contest and best of luck. Aptly expressed. Once the day's done that's it. There are no do-overs. Best of luck in the contest. judi

Bill,
This my favorite poem style. You used a good illustration to illustrate your message for this contest. It is a takeoff on: Today is yesterday's tomorrow.
Of course, we always have control to change how we act.

This is a great poem. It is full of meaning and it is very clever. Your line "today departs yesterday" took me a while to understand and made me ponder about time.
Exceptional and good luck in the contest.

Sunrise is an inspirational time of day, as is sunset. The colors vary as well. Such beauty we are treated to without traveling to find it. A daily message to look forward to. This is a great presentation.

I never stop being amazed at how the choice of one (multisyllabic) word can bring a poem, like a haiku, or a senryu to life. Of course in this case the word is irreversible. I don't know what your luck has been with these types of contests, but my thought is that this one has a good chance of bringing home the gold.

Thank you, Jay. After a dozen years I've gone from straight zeroes to one in ten.

If a poem is going to that short, it has to make sense to me, and this one does. We all know the truth of this statement, but I don't think we let it sink in. By putting the words into a poem, it makes you stop and think. The chance to do all those things we thought we would do yesterday, is gone forever. To many yesterdays leads to a life of little accomplishment.

"at dawn's inception
today departs yesterday
irreversibly."
I like the thought you have expressed in these few words. We cannot go back and change yesterday, so we are reminded to enjoy today.

this is beautiful, and moving. it brought tears to my eyes (i kid you not). i very much like the image that your words bring to me of fission yeast, where time would be budding off in small fragments from a common stock.

That's so true. We can't go back to yesterday even if memories stay with us. I like the forward-focus of this poem and the positive feeling of making the most of today. Best wishes in the contest!
