I really liked your personification of the wind in "The Winds of Catatonia."
Excellent rhyme in your Shakespearean sonnet.
Very nicely done.
Blessings

An interesting read, finding a smooth flow of thought creating its sequence of events, shared emotional transactions compelling to my interests. All viewpoints stated in my given opinion.

Your contest entry reads well, Mystery Author the image paired with your well thought out words is a great choice. I like the rhyme, the smooth flow, and the true message. Thanks for the notes, too. I've read how weather affects moods and agree with you. I like how the one in your poem realizes that s/he needs to act to defeat the control weather is exerting. Best wishes.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Dear Mystery Writer,
Smart stuff. I'm sure you know about SAD? Seasonal Affective Disorder? It hits folks around fall when there are fewer hours of sunlight and hangs around until spring when the sun helps to ease the suffering. It is marked by lethargy and depression, etc. Lots of folks suffer from it, and some may not even know that's the problem.
Thanks a bunch. I enjoyed!

Hi Robyn,
Yes. SAD is experienced by so many, and yes, some don?t realize it is an issue. Weather is a powerful force exerted on us daily and seasonally.
Your insightful review and thoughts are very welcomed and appreciated!
Thank you.
All the best,

That was a beautiful poem, wonderfully worded, and very creative. More people are suffering with depression now after the long lockdown because of the covid. It's not an easy thing to treat. I didn't realise how awful depression can be until I suffered a bout of it a few years ago. I never want to go down that road again. Well done, your poem is incredible. Good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Hi Sandra,
Oh thank you for a wonderful review and comments. I know, depression is the absolute worst. It is so prevalent these days, especially since the pandemic. You?re so right. Never to travel that rocky road again.
Your thoughts are so appreciated!

"The Winds of Catatonia", is a well-written, but more than a little depressing piece. This talented poet has with craft and skill told it as he/she sees it. Good luck with the contest. My fingers are crossed for you!

Hi Duchess,
Good to hear from you as always! I thought I would write about how weather can affect one?s moods and state of mind. Maybe I got a bit carried away, lol. :-)
Thanks for a super review and thoughts. They are always valuable to me.

Your ending rings a positive change in outlook, a new boldness and willingness to overcome, and reclaim the fullness of life. This follows the devastating effects of the wind, making the person want to hide away, not hearing joyous sounds but rather wanting to die. I take it that the winds are the powerful negative forces in life, crushing the spirit, causing mental distress and illness. Well written.

This skillfully-written, thought-provoking sonnet is vividly descriptive of the turbulent mindset of one who, it seems, is at the mercy of forces beyond his/her understanding or control.

Hi Janice,
Your spot on review and comments made my day. Yes, you took away from my sonnet the intended message. Weather can have a dramatic effect on people, some more than others ? thank you for your valuable review and comments. They are always appreciated!

There definitely seems to be more mental illness around than I have ever seen before, or do they seem to have put a more conclusive name to the myriad of mental conditions, that were around, but somehow invisible. I notice that more people escape severe penalties for having committed a crime, using mental afflictions as an excuse, although I believe mercy is relevant, it means a so called "sane" person is likely to feel its full wrath? Beautifully written, I liked the way you put this together, well done, blessings

Hi Roy,
Yes, I think your comments are spot on. Mental illness is catered too as an excuse these days. So many juries find the defendant mentally ill or ?insane? when they are really just creeps and evil people.
I tried to paint how weather can affect some people, especially people on the edge. Not to excuse them for any crimes. With the onslaught of Big Pharma pumping out so many drugs these days and making billions (medicines that can really be helpful for some) people forget the only true healing power of the Great I Am, God.
As always I value your reviews and comments, Roy, as you are such an inspiration to me with your uplifting messages of hope and faith.
Have a great rest of your week and weekend :-)
Always,
Senyai
