Wow, Beth, you did have your share of problems, didn't you? I've never known depression. Years ago, I had a friend who suffered from and that's when I realised how deliberating it can be.
the record would be erased when she got eighteen. = when she turned eighteen.
You know how much I enjoy reading this. Ulla:)))

Thank you Ulla, I always appreciate your reviews and comments. Yes she gave us a hard time. I don't get depressed either. My husband had the melancholy personality type and all the child seemed to have gotten a touch of it.

TURNED not TUNED!

Dear Beth, I agree with you, a propensity for personality is inherited just like blue eyes or red hair. Your Husband was a person who didn't mind working by himself, another Indication that he was of a melancholy disposition.

Thank you Suzanna. I appreciate the review and comments. I don't have that trait. I've had a few hormonal mood swings but not depression.

I understood that.
was I not clear in saying it was your husband who inherited a melancholy personality and suffered from his own version of depression.

This is true.

All my children have the melancholy trait.
What an interesting chapter in your book--
Remembering Yesterday. I like the way you wrote about Connie of how she found vodka was making her vomit.
And writing about your children were melancholy,
was inherited from their father.

I don't think any of us inherited depression, my sister and I inherited Mum's feistiness, the others were more like dad. I think introspection tends to make a writer of one, I've always been a little like your daughter, Carol. Thanks for this, I find it fascinating, you were born to be a wife and a mum Beth. Blessings Roy
Typo : Erased when she (got) eighteen. Turned?

Thank you Roy. I appreciate the review and comments. The depressive streak didn't come from me. I'm seldom depressed. Carol is a good writer. But she is almost too introspective to be truly happy.

I?m the dreamy kind, not prone to depression.

Depression the stigma in those years and the new normal now:"
Our children all seemed to be plagued with that black demon, depression. I think that is the curse of a melancholy personality type, which was more likely inherited from your DNA than mine." Thank you for sharing and good luck with the next chapter.

A very interesting chapter, Beth. I would hazard a guess that not many of us are depression-free. There is usually a period in one's life where it does creep up. Depending on one's personality, it will either bring us down or make us stronger, if we overcome it. It does touch a lot of people. None of us are immune to the ups and downs that life deals us.
But, you seem to have been very strong throughout your life and led your children well.

I'm sorry that everyone is going through such a hard time. Hopefully, things will turn around for you soon. Hopefully, Connie visiting an old friend will help. Your chapter is well-written, interesting. Like always, I look forward to reading more.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I have a little help with the memory, starting with this one because I did keep a journal for short while through the early nineties.
