I'm glad you were finally able to get back to your house. It takes a lot to recover from such a loss. The taxi drivers in New York are crazy, I agree. I opted to take my chances with the muggers than to ride with them again, lol. Don seems to find a girl wherever he goes, lol. Your chapter is well-written, very interesting, I look forward to reading more.

Thank you for the review and comments. The last tim we were in New York, we tried riding in a taxie but the guy chewed us out for not standing in the right spot. He was a mean looking Arab guy wearing a turban. After that we walked.

I think I would've told the guy where he could stuff his rules.

Isn't it funny, and sad, that we all remember where we were then the Space Shuttle exploded. I like how you used that anecdote to tell the reader even more about your husband.
Your unique style of talking to him as you reminisce is enjoyable to read, and mostly because you are a talented writer. Your transitions work well, and you have some delightful turns of phrase, such as this one:
"...sold to a hopeful, but hapless, buyer..."

I really appreciate the review and you affirmative comments. The Challenger explosion, 9/ll, the death of Diana, the Oklahoma bombing, it is always something bad that we remember. I guess it is the shock that make it memorable. I'm glad you ae continuing to read my story.

Your nest seems to be slowly emptying out, but you still know how to have fun, as a family. You're settling into your new home, after the huge fire reset your entire living space. It sounds like the Challenger disaster was personally very upsetting to your family, particularly your husband. It was a very tragic accident, a tremendous loss.
Just a few minor corrections, this time:
We toured the capitol ...

...and the Amish country in Lancaster county.

Back to Firebird, it cranked once, and Don traded it to his friend ...

I'm sorry that I ran out of sixes, very quickly this week!
It was slightly amusing for me to hear your account of visiting New York City. It's my own stomping grounds going back for many decades, and I know more ways to travel between Manhattan and Queens than I can count. I don't drive, at all, but I can give a driver directions. I would be totally lost in Metairie.

Thank ;you so much for the review and for the nice comments. Later we will go back to New York, and this time we'll stay a block for Time's Square and we'll get a much better impression of New York. We weren't prepared for the first trip. I was an afterthought. Thank again for the editing help.

You're very welcome, my friend. Yes, I do hope that you can return to New York City and have a very good time here, when the pandemic restrictions are lifted. I hope it will be soon. Many blessings to you and yours!

Well done. Glad to meet a "Tangent" woman. Someone made me a "Tangent Man" siggy ages ago. I am always going off on tangents. This was an interesting read. Be interesting to hear of someone with a metal detector, thinking they have found gold where that old engine is buried.

You're telling me I go off in too many different directions. That's okay. That is the way my life travels. I'm glad you're willing to go along for the ride. I appreciate your reading and commenting on this. Beth

I always love it when you connect your memories to real events. The Challenger tragedy remains in my mind and I always think of my classmates in grad school as we discussed it. Two of them were teachers so it struck them hard, thinking about how it affected students.
I'm impressed with Don's abilities. I do hope he figured out how to save money! The new young lady sounds promising. Did they get married?

Never a dull moment in your corner of the world. I can see how you were kept busy refurbishing the house and buying new clothes. Don came through for you in the reconstruction. The devastation of the explosion in space is something we'll never forget. Then that holiday in D.C. It is an impressive place, or it was.
So I'm not feeling too bad that I never made it to New York, as I read your experience. This is certainly a good chapter with its many occurrences.

Thank you for the review and comments. Yes my family kept me moving in one direction or another. It is sort of fun to look back over in it some semblance of order. I know I've got a few thing out of line. I wish I had total recall.

You certainly recall a lot. We can't remember every little thing, but you've remembered so much.

Thank you for the review and comments. This one got away from me early too. I finally noticed the the preview was turned off so I hurried and promoted this one any way. The day the Challenger crashed was sad and yes it was hard getting my guys our of the Air and Space Museum. I appreciate the six stars.
