This is a most interesting challenge, and you have definitely risen to the fore. I would like to know how you managed to get your GIF show up on the front page.

This sounds like a most interesting book and your free verse has taken us through to the self-realization of surrender.

Excellent contribution to the club. :)

Gloria, hi! Thank you the graphic as an option with FS art, I often peruse this as an first option to marry the art with the poem.

I think we have less need for earthly treasures as we age, we realise he importance of friends and family and the simple things in life that cost nothing are the nuts and bolts of happiness, a spiritual and meaningful write, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Dolly, thank you for your review and yes, the older I get the more I am quite comfortable with less material things and more soothed with companionships.

Dear JLR, from this poem we all now know what sort of books you read for recreation. Indeed I think you cannot find a more reverent theme for a poem of any kind, much less a free verse, at which you are a master.
For me the third stanza contains the essence and message of your book ; and the author is certainly right, for we cannot serve both God and Mammon.

Suzanna, thank you for your unexpected six-star validation. The older I am given the Joy to experience, the more I realize my material needs are fewer and fewer and my thirst for reaching out in love and compassion to my fellow human beings is unquenchable.

This poem is certainly an engrossing read with lots of interesting concepts/ ideas explored regarding our spiritual dimension -'The seeker must abandon/the death grip on earthly treasures' a most empowering sentiment

This is thought provoking and encourages some searching. I got a bit lost in the middle but I get your point and feel you did well here. Your writing goes well with your picture.

This poem, Sacred Contracts, is a lofty verse that brings the struggle of the pilgrim and the worldly ways of the wandering spirit together again. When we focus bon the prize, we can avoid the snares and pits.

quiet your selfish thoughts, and be Still.

Yes, the rest of it might be difficult, but, in today's high-tech, face-time world, this is huge for the youth of today! :) Such a gentle and reassuring offering here, JL -- thanx so much for the wonderful and much-needed interlude! ;) Yvette

A wonderful presentation, Jim. Starting with the unusual graphics in the art work to the very last line of the poem...this is brilliant. I liked this stanza in particular:

"The seeker must abandon
the death grip on earthy treasures,
bound up in the egoic striving
to store up and hoard material possessions,
those money-grubbing, bourgeois habits."

Bravo! Bob

What a novel contest. This one is so unique and interesting. It really triggers the imagination. You have done an excellent job with the line that you have chosen. Great job and I hope they have more contests like this one.
