A very well written story/poem shaded in fairy tale form. It has a smooth flow of words, making for an excellent read. Good luck in your contest.

I really enjoy reading your "fun poems" that you've been writing lately, it's a welcome break. I also enjoy those pictures, they really add a lot to your writings. Take care. Bill

Hah! What an adorable expression on little sawyer's face! He's got that, "Who, me?" look so many parents and grandparents are all too familiar with...
This was a very light-hearted, tender natured poem about a large, big green monster scared of his own shadow. Not to mention the pop-popping sound of gummy blown bubbles, too!
Nicely done...
That face, bwahah ha!

That is indeed one of his best expressions I've seen since I became a fan of the little guy :). This was a very sweet and kind poem. You have a great way with using words and making things go together so smoothly. This was great

Oooommm. "Just look at that Big Green Monster, daddy, Look!!!" What a priceless expression on Sawyer's face, hahahaha.
A green monster that chews bubble gum and just wants to be friends.

Hi adewpearl Just the right balance of humour and empathy to appeal to children, I think. It reads well aloud too. I taught for many years here in South Australia and for some of that time was a teacher/librarian. I can imagine an attentive and delighted audience of 6- to 7-year olds for this one. Much enjoyed by me too!

Ido love your children's poetry, Brooke.
I wish I could draw, so I could collaborate with you in bringing out a book with illustrations
Sawyer is one lucky little boy.
What a delightful write.
Hugs, your fan, d

Maureen, this write has exceptional rhyme and flow. Dragons don't seem so frighting when their weaknesses are exposed. Our compassion kicks in and we in turn want to comfort just like we want comfort when we are frightened. The teeth on both the creature and the kid are interesting comparisons. Friendship, I believe, is born of adversity. :0 GracieAnn

How wonderful...it sounds like hes leaning to blow bubbles now, and the first one scared him silly. This was such a fun read Brooke, I enjoyed it so much. Blessings

Will you LOOK at that face? He's an adorable little tyke. there's always wisdom in your poetry, Brooke, and this one is certainly no exception. How often do we shape up for hostility, when in fact the "monster" is more afraid than we are?
