An excellent entry for the Penning Hope competition. You have done a very fine job with this beautiful expression. So many great words composed -
"A tangle of wild flowers given away.
Hope is air beneath tattered wings
Hope is a song my heart still dares to sing"
Love these lines. So descriptive, moving and hopeful. Bravo and best of luck in the competition. ~DD

This is so good, a great contest entry for 'hope'. It is well written and you have asked questions and even answered them in that your heart still dares to sing, we all have hope for better tomorrows, it is far better than giving up. Well done, and good luck! xsx Sandra

I think no matter how cliched,
hope is air beneath tattered wings
No matter how my life is played
hope is song my heart still dares to sing
The whole poem pivots on the last stanza. Yes, it is hope we cling to when all seems lost and hopeless.
I love the diction, the cadence and the flow. Beautiful

Hi, This is a competent answer to the task. I particularly like:
'I think no matter how cliched,
hope is air beneath tattered wings'
When I was reading the last line, I automatically put a 'the' before 'song'. Does it scan better?
With best wishes, Writeling

Hi, Writeling, I appreciate your fine review and suggestion. I had a bit of trouble with that line and tried several wordings but think I will leave as is.
Thanks again for the excellent rating.
Have a great weekend,

How true your words are. I think you raise a lot of important points because there is always hope to be found in an attitude of grace and discovery.

Beautiful entry in the Penning Hope prompt. Picture was perfect. I think you gave some great examples of searching for hope. Questioning life is sometimes what we have to do.

A good poem. It has a good flow to it and a good sense of rhyme.
I like that searching for hope you never give up totally about
finding hope. It is written very well and I can find nothing to change

I enjoyed this poem and it is a great contest entry. I think you did an outstanding job with this piece. One stanza truly resonates with me at this time:
I think no matter how cliched,
hope is air beneath tattered wings
No matter how my life is played
hope is song my heart still dares to sing
Good luck in the contest.
Wishing you all the best-
Bill

Whoever wrote this bespeaks my state of minds these days.
So fatigued with playing it off the cuff
I need the glint of better tomorrows
a crisp answer to uncertainty
While this could be about so many things: a broken marriage, the death of a loved one, etc. in my case the lines work for me as a caregiver for my husband.
hope is air beneath tattered wings
Yes, finding it harder to fly every day.

Thank you Spitfire, I truly appreciate your thoughts and generous review. (I fell your pain...it is so hard to care for the one who made your heart skip a beat, picked you up in his arms, supported you and now all has changed but only in the physical. The heart still holds the flame but the legs are just tired... but take heart, somehow it will all work out. God bless.)

Picking the wildflowers as a symbol of hope is genius. Your poem flows the way that breath can breathe in hope and breathe out faith for a better future.
Well done.
