Johnny had determination that he wasn't going to lose and he had faith enough see it through. As they say "don't look back."
I like the poem and the pictures.
Congratulations on your wins.
Good luck with your poem.

I've read many of your stories here, they're always wonderful. But this tribute had me smiling and tappin' my toe with the Charlie Daniels Band in my heart. I rather liked to imagine that Charlie Daniels is Johnny.
In my humble opinion, there is nothing here that needs work. Maybe the song (instrumental) playing in the background.
Thank you, and I hope you received praise or thanks from the Charlie Daniels Band.

They made two framed copies of the poem, planetjanet, and one of those they were kind enough to send to me signed by the band.
That made it well worthwhile!
Thank you for reading. I very much appreciate it.

There is nothing humble about this tribute... This song was on mind all day yesterday. It permeated my thoughts continually.
How strange is that. Today the in-depth personification of johnnycake. I loved the song before, now you have made it personal

That is quite a coincidence, petalangela. Thank you very much for digging this one out of FanStory obscurity and offering your opinions on the poem. It is truly appreciated. :) ~Dean Kuch

Wow,
Now that was an awesome one.
I am glad I hadn't read this before I wrote my story as I may not have bothered. I will be bookmarking this for later on.
Absolutely fantastic.

Hey, G-Man, thanks for not only checking this out, but for the six stars as well. I told you it was eerily close to the topic of your story, and I wrote it quite awhile ago. I guess it's really true what they say, huh? Great mind do think alike, heh-heh.
Much obliged, mate, I'm glad you liked it. :} ~Dean

Thanks for such an enthusiastic and complimentary review, RYME4U. I got no reward, as I lost the contest by a single vote, other than many wonderful reviews such as the one you've given me here. And that's enough of a reward for me, my friend.
Thanks so much again. I truly appreciate it.

Congratulations on your win, Dean. I somehow missed voting on this, but I think that it is fantastic in every sense. It is a great piece of writing.

I didn't win, evilynne. I came in second to Maureen Napier's poem, My Vulnerability, losing by a single vote. Yours would have been very, very helpful and very much appreciated. However, thanks for the awesome six star rating and your complimentary review. I am very glad that you enjoyed it!
-
Well, even second is fantatic. I can't even get to that point. Sorry my vote wasn't there. I have been battling with my computer and have missed some opportunities.
-
No worries. There will be more contests. Just keep an eye open, heh-heh ;}
-
Will try to keep both eyes open

What can I say...this is brilliant. The original song is one of my all time favorite (and I think under appreciated) country tunes. On top of that, it's very well written. Though, perhaps, at times, a little corny and over the top, particularly with the heavenly references (though that is just my personal opinion). Other than that, I loved it. The graphics were also a nice touch ;)

Thanks, Kris, I really appreciate it. Yeah, it was meant to be a bit "over-the-top:, just like that ole Charlie Daniels tune. I'm working on The Return to Wolley Swamp as we speak. I sent to poem to Charlie Daniels website, and he is sending me an autographed copy of the album in vinyl as a thank you. Now, I ask you, how cool is that guy?
-
That is very nice of him :') Personally I think he's one of the best! Right up there with Cash and Rogers!
You mean, the Legend of Wooley Swamp? That is also a fantastic song! I'm looking forward to reading your take on it! All the best!

Yeah, I'm working on a follow up sequel to The Legend of Wooley Swamp. Still in the beginning stages, though...

I don't normally read things that are printed on a black background because it hurts my eyes but I'm glad I decided to read this. It's outstanding.

Thanks so much, Judy, I truly appreciate the complimentary review. As my eyesight is not the best, I often test various background and font colors to make the work is easy as possible for everyone to read. I assume if I can see it, then virtually anyone can, LOL. This color combination seemed to work the best.
Thanks so much again for your excellent review and exceptional rating of six stars. I am very happy that you read it too! :}

Amazing once again. I would love to hear this one played because it is a song. May I publish this on my facebook page and pinterest page? I love it so much I would like to share it. I definitely am voting for this one.

Sure you may, prefabmouse. You're more than welcome to post it on Facebook. You should look me up there sometime. I have an author's page, Dean Kuch (huh...imagine that) on facebook. I could use all the "LIKES" I can get, LOL.
Thanks so much for your fine review and outstanding rating. I am a big Charlie Daniels fan myself from way back!
-
I found you on facebook. I gave you my face book name so you can friend me.
-
Thanks very much. I will return the favor, and I really appreciate it! :}
-
I sent you a friends request. My real last name is Cook, same pronunciation, different spelling. Kuch is the German spelling. I use Kuch for publishing purposes because it is close to Dean Koontz. Just a marketing tool to sell more books, LOL.
-
O.K., now that that is cleared up I will go back and make my third edit. LOL
-
Ha ha, well, good luck, LOL! :}

Dean, I loved it and sang it in my head. I love that Charlie Daniels song, so immediately from the title I knew it was related. The rhythm and rhyme of your well written song/poem continues where Charlie left off. Great job. Wish I had a six left, but you don't need one anyway...you're in the poem of the month already.

Hah ha, thanks, maggieadams, and you're right, the sixes, while nice, aren't the important thing. What is important is that you enjoyed reading it, and were entertained. I don't do this for the six-star ratings, or to be in the Poem of the Month. I do it to inspire, entertain and maybe, if I'm lucky, to touch the lives of others through my only words. Besides, Maureen Napier is kicking my butt anyhow, so... there is that, LOL! :}
