You took me back to my first marriage - it was a very similar set of situations and I look fondly on the memories. You have a very clean way of writing and one can feel your joy. This was written very well and was a pleasure to read!

Thank you so much Sherry. I appreciate the review. If you read the next on in this series, you'll see things don't always run smoothly.

I'm sorry I don't have a six for this. Please except my high five with compliments. Your life sounds very much like the way mine was with her much in common. A sweet and good life I think.
I longed for homeownership around the time I was pregnant. I had a terrible miscarriage after falling on the ice, and it was shortly after I got pregnant again when we moved into our first home. I had a lot of fun fixing up our nursery and waiting with great anticipation. We lived in upstate New York at the time and I remember thinking I never wanted to leave. We did, but we learned the great values of homeownership and how to manage our home and the payments.
Sending along my very best to you and yours as always, Sally XOs

Thank you so much Sally. It does sound like we have some things in common. Miscarriages are hard too. I did have that happen but I have a lot of friends who did. I was lucky I was young and able to have more children.

Loved these sweet memories of that year of anticipation of your first baby. (I remember the heartbreaking story of her). I liked the details of your furniture even including the Formica top which tells us what time period it was. A Weimaraner - I think that one has light blue eyes and dusty brownish-grayish fur? Dusty sounds like a good name. Most of all, I loved the sound of gratitude for those simple things in your early days of family life.

Thank you for the review and comments on the story. I dread posting the next one because it impossible to get any form of humor into that time of my life. I've been busy with other things and haven't had time to add to my other story so I'll go ahead and renew that one. I'll send some wedding picture to your facebook site soon.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. The weimaraner dog is German breed of hunting dog. It is fairly large with floppy ears and a distinctive gray color. It is a fairly rare breed from the 19 century. How my dog ended up looking like one is beyond because I sure no one in the country owed one. Look it up. There are picture on the net.

A lovely story, and very well written. Life was simpler back then and people were satisfied with second hand furniture and goods. I am looking forward to the next part.

Hello Beth,
Your story sounds somewhat familiar. I suppose the hard times make us appreciate the good times all the more, but more importantly, I think they build character in us. Good Lord, $12,500.00 for a house. Of course wages weren't very high then either. What a pleasant story to read. Well done.
Have a blessed evening.

Thank you for the review and comments. I rewrote a slightly didn't version of story last year after my husband died. That may be why in sounds familiar. Prices were quite different in 1961 plus prices in the south weren't nearly as high as other areas. This was Mississippi.

Hi Beth, I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I used to watch some fix it up show that featured homes in Mississippi. Some of them are so beautiful and you can get so much for the money, but I'm afraid the heat and bugs would be more than I can handle. I love the south though, the people are so warm. I drank many a gallon of sweet tea when I was in Charleston.

I love your story so sweet and it did seem like the American dream. What did you call your dog? What did you name the baby? All the best Laura-------------

Thank you, Laural. Yes, those days did feel like we were having a bit of the American dream. Because of his color, we named the dog, Dusty. The baby's name was Susan Renee.

When we look back on those times we thought were difficult, we realize just how wonderful they really were. Even the harder of times. Thanks for sharing another fine chapter.

Yes, life has it's little ups and downs. Nothing ever remains the same. Just when we get content with the way things are going Murphy's Law kicks in and puts an end to it all. Good job, Beth. NAncy:)
