This was informative and had some humor in it. But this article/story still read like a blog post. I am not sure what the dramatic or humorous point you wanted to make here. You may have done yourself a dis-service by posting your experience as a story. If factuality had not been your desire you could had used this real life experience as a jumping off point for some fiction. For example the lightning could had opened a portal to the digital universe or something. I understand that this was posted as a heads up about your now limited abilities to be on line. But you did leave it so it could be reviewed. I do hope you found this informative in some way.

LOL! I've come to the conclusion that if something can happen, it is likely to happen to you. :-0 Having summarized such a broad and unfair statement, I have to add you also have more than your share of humour, and your perspective on any situation is always refreshing for us, the reader.
Tell Carmen to rest, and we'll look forward to having her back along with yourself.
Thanks for the entertaining read.

I am happy to report that Carmen is back en la casa where she belongs. The new heart and tummy tuck have done wonders for her attitude too. Glad you enjoyed this (my maiden name was Murphy...need I say more?)_

LOL! Well Ms Murphy. I'm thrilled Carmen got through the operations with minimal scars. We'll look forward to more of your coffee shop stories.

LOL. I like romance. "Back at the Cyber Cafe" sounds like another horrible storm swept through there. At least it cooled things down. Geez that lightning is tenacious. Hope you get Carmen back soon and all is well. :)

Cant say I noticed any spag, Sasha. What a bloody awful thing to have happened. I hope you did not lose any important files? I never knew that could happen either. I generally ignore storms, unplug nothing and carry on blithely through the racket! Forewarned is forearmed. Hope armen recovers!

Spaglicious you say? If there's one thing I can't abide in this world it's a spaglicious contraption. I have one myself. It's called Ubuntu Linux. Linux I just recently learned is an operating system for smart people who like to put people down who don't know source code and how to use terminal commands to compute. They are all a bunch of geek weenies who used to be in the AV club back when we were in high school and they all wore pocket protectors and had serious nasal problems which caused them to carry humongous snot rags that they whipped out constantly. When they did this, yellow and green snots went flying across the room and into people's open mouths and hair. Sooooo gross. I don't like Linux people. One of them sent me a note on my very own computer, and how did she get in there I'd like to know, she wrote: "I have a problem with "Maryellen." Then she wrote it about six times. All this because I signed up for some packages of their propaganda documentation to help me try to figure this OS out and I neglected to use my last name considering I'm the only legal user on the thing and the other is a hacker. She did not like being on a first name basis with me I can tell you that.
Well I hope your Carmen recuperates quickly and comes home to you soon. Gee, if I were to give a name to my dreaded monster Linux it would have to be something like Bruno, Gorgonvald, Monstro or Aborto.
Thanks, as always, for listening. I need to write more on FS so my reviews aren't so long and actually stick to the piece supposedly being reviewed, which was good to read because it's always good to get news from you.
Peace, Bliss & Love,
Maryellen

I'm sorry to hear about your computer. Years ago a spike burnt out my modum but fortunately the computer was unharmed. I hope you can get your computer back soon.

Apparently I burned out both the power supply and the modem but didnĀ“t lose any information. Carmen should be back home today or tomorrow with a heart transplant and a tummy tuck.
