Wow! That is one of the most extraordinarily moving pieces of poetry I have ever had the privilege to read. I am usually good with words, but they fail me. I have one more poem to read, but I know already that you have my vote for poem of the month.

Hello Steve! What a wonderful message to receive this early morning! I am deeply humbled and honored by your kind words and review. This piece is a little out of the ordinary. It has created quite a bit of discussion re: poetry or short story? To me, they are often one and the same. Again....thank you so much...and do stop by again. diane

This is a gentle, and touching work. The love and resignation that comes from caring for and elderly parent is forefront. I found no spags, and the flow was smooth. I only have one concern. This work reads like a short story, not a poem. It is the only issue I have with this work.

The lines between poetry and story are subliminal and symbiotic. A great poem tells a story; likewise, a great story is a poem of experience, life, heartache, attitudes, beliefs, etc...What is so remarkable about the craft of writing is that it allows the writer to explore different venues and formats to express his or her art. This offering is a story told in poetic format. It is a narrative poem that tells a story. Thank you for stopping by.diane

I'll have to agree. I've revised my rating. Good luck in the contest.

Wow, this is really a poignant story. These are the moments that take us out of the craziness of life, and into the real. Very well expressed sadness. Bravo

Diane, this touched me in so many ways. An excellent portrayal of the complicated pattern that this disease can take. Your tenderness and honesty in caring for your mother, made me cry as it flooded me with the memories of me and my own mother's time when she was ill and fading slowly away. This is a most touching piece.
Very well written, stunning imagery with the geranium and ivy filled pots leading the way.
Best of luck in the contest.

Very unusual poetry, looks more like a short story than poetry. But beautiful special design makes it look more like a poetry. And great memory about your mother. It's like a memorial which will never break. I prefer to write a novels than poetry, so I build the memorial for my mother in a novel about my childhood "Curse of Russia." You did memorial for your mother in the poem. This is what the daughters supposed to do! Thank you very much for sharing. With great respect, Fidgitive.

This is a lovely poem. You have captured your mother's voice and the tender feelings you have for her. You gave her the comfort she needed in this visit. You were her hands and bolsted her memories of the love she showed your father.
It is a gift to be able to express your mother's person in these words. Thank you.

Diane, what a moving poem. I really enjoyed the exchange in dialogue - it drove the piece and made met feel connected to what the person telling the story was feeling. The descriptions of the flowers were beautiful and colorful. Thanks you for sharing this piece.

This is just an absolutely beautiful poem! I am sorry for the loss of your mother, but it wonderful that you wrote this in memory of her. I like the way you have written in from different viewpoints, but they come togather in the end. Just beautiful!

How unbelievably painful to lose a parent. I cannot imagine and can only say I hope you feel some relief from anguish by being able to write about it so beautifully.
Good luck in the contest.
