This is a heart wrenching poem. Grief is so difficult. Your emotions are felt well through your words. Poem has good rhyming. The picture is a good choice for the poem. Great job.

Thank you and welcome to my neighborhood, even if only temporary.

This poem, A Griever's Prayer, captures the lost and restless soul trying to get a grip on the reality of life going on without someone important along any longer.

Poppa Westbrook will be missed. He led his progeny for 91 years. Farming and ranching, and being generous to those in need. It was a sad yet glad day to see his suffering end. He left a legacy, and three plots of acreage, for each child.

It is nice how you compared a grieving person's hurt to a sore. God has control over both and in time a person will heal.
Congratulations on your wins and good luck in the contest. I hope you will get more reviewers.

Thank you. As a bind squirrel I seemed to have found an acorn to share with FStorians everywhere. Thanks for the kind remark.

This is so beautifully written, adequately describing the effects of grief after loss of a loved one. We have all experienced such grief and can relate to your message and ending prayer.

Thank you. It was sad yet glad in the sense his pain was removed and he was ready to meet His maker.

Hey Tom, this was an excellent empathetic poem that goes to the heart of a grieving grandchild. One cannot assume that grief is diminished because the department is old and lived a good fruitful life. The loss of a Long life will lead may truly be more traumatic than the demise of a middle-aged ne'er-do-well. Great job with the intensity and emotion of loss.

Hello Tom, I love the natural flow of this poem. Nothing is forced. The first two lines made me want to read down to know more. 'When grief is deep, it's hard to sleep '. Well penned, dear. Good luck in the contest.

The words flowed easily for me due to the loss of my father-in-law last Sunday. My wife entered in his home to feed him lunch and found his d.o.a. on the floor, seemingly with heart failure from the night before. Thanks for the comment.

Well done. I especially like the concept of the id and the prayer at the end. The loss of a loved one is always tough and difficult to overcome because of our emotional attachment. Beautifully written. Thanks for sharing it. Be well.

This one hit home on so many levels. Grief is a universal emotion, and you've captured it succinctly, with a rhyme scheme that's beautifully unpredictable and not forced. Thank you for posting, and I send my sympathies to you and your family.

Tom,
This is a great poem about grief. I just lost my dog after almost 15 years and I was heartbroken and shattered by it. Grief has no time limit and for everyone it's different.
Well done shipmate.

We lost our pooch two years gone and I never cried so hard being on the floor as he was administered his lethal dose
Then I had to give the eulogy to my father in law and I welled up terribly

Tom,
For people like us these dogs are family. My dog passed away unexpectedly. The doctor says she had a heart attack. :(

The loss of a loved one is never easy and I offer sympathy for all the suffering and their losses. You're a fine photographer, Tommy boy, and the best way to ease those sour moods is to take more of those bikini shots. :-) Thanks for sharing.
