Isn't it amazing how some people have such little self-awareness that this could happen? And in a couple too. You'd think one or the other would pick up on the fact that what they were doing was extremely rude. I guess they were too much alike, which I think isn't the best for a relationship. I think partnerships work best when the two people complement each other and have different strengths and sensitivities, so that if one starts going overboard, the other can rein them in. Oh well.

I loved this story, Tom, and yes, you would have made millions!

    Hi Jim,
thanks so much for the delightful review. Yes, you would think that one or the other would have gotten a clue, but they were all caught up in themselves I guess. They didn't have any kids at home, so I guess in order to alleviate the tediousness of their lives, they decided to spread the joy around.
    Have a blessed day.

This story, Could You Leave Please, focuses on these "neighbors" who had definitely overplayed their hand on the friendship table and needed to be dealt out a few games.

    Hi Bill,
thanks so much for the entertaining review. Being dealt out a few games would certainly have helped, but not responding at all to them was an even better solution at the time.
    Have a blessed evening.

great story, I am going out and looking for these candles, I'm buying at least a dozen to start with. I'm also going tobuy your book and display it right in the middle of my mantle so everyone sees it and asks about it! Well done!

    Hello Marilyn,
thanks so much for the generous review gal, I appreciate it. I assume you're speaking of my first book, Wilderness Blues. It's available on line at Amazon or directly from me. Thanks for your interest.
    Have a blessed day.

ROFL! Yes, sir, I think we've all shared that unfortunate experience a time or two, but hopefully never in the burdensome way of having people show up every night like you did. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Ric,
yes, that was really distressing. It was like we were prisoners in our own home. I never knew when they were going to show up. It was a small town, so there weren't many places to hide. Some folks just don't have a clue. Thanks so much for the great review.
    Have a blessed evening.

Hey Tom.
This does belong under the title of humor. I started laughing about halfway through because as your words so empty described, the pattern was becoming quite clear. Jan hiding under the window was particularly funny. You couldn't have used a funnier picture to match the story. You managed to write the story down and leaving out most of the offensive words.
We have never been in a situation like that but I will keep this as reference, in case I need it.
Funny story Tom. Nice job of getting it written. I laughed as I read it.

Robert

    Hi Robert,
I'm so glad you were entertained by the story, that was my intention. When we were going through the situation, there was nothing funny about it. I have a tendency to look at something troubling, and assume that I'm going to be dealing with it the rest of my life, and it almost causes me to panic. I never had to deal with anything like that when I was growing up, so I couldn't tap into any kind of previous experience to see how my folks might have handled it. It was really quite bizarre, but fortunately, we got through it. Thanks so much for the outstanding review.
    Have a blessed evening.

What an unbearable pair! I mean just because they presented you with gifts didn't mean that they owned you forever! I think you showed tremendous patience, Tom, and did your best not to offend. But some people have very thick skin and just can't take a hint. That candle would have been the answer though..if only! Thanks for sharing your entertaining story, a joy to read as ever. Take care Debbie

    Hello Debbie,
you always bless my with such generous reviews gal, thanks so much. Yes, for want of a stinky candle, I had to endure weeks of torture. When I was younger, my feet used to stink, but I think I had grown out of that problem unfortunately, or I could have just waved my feet in the air until they felt nauseous and left. Ah well, miraculously, I survived.
    Have a blessed evening gal.

I've just been reading Bob Cullen's verse and replies and, like you, he makes me laugh in one sentence. I will now, forever, have an image of you making polite conversation while waving your feet in the air:))

While stationed in Germany my husband and I took a tour to Paris. I left my backpack on the bus with kiwi in it. They rotted and I couldn't get the smell out of the backpack no matter what I did. I had to throw it away. I found this story funny, but I can understand at the time it was not.

    Hi Barbara,
I never would have thought that kiwis would smell bad, even if they rotted, but I've never been exposed to rotten kiwis. Like most unpleasant situations, at the time they are just that- unpleasant. It's only after time has passed and you're no longer dealing with the problem that it can be funny, more or less. Thanks so much for the entertaining review gal.
    Have a blessed evening.

My husband won't eat a kiwi today because he still remembers that horrible smell.

Oh that's too bad. I like kiwis, we just have a hard time buying ripe ones.

Oh, Tom, I knu how you and Jan feel! Except mine is a fan of my books! My husband has my books on a shelf in our embroidery shop. When people realize it's me, they purchase them. I'm not in the shop so whatever Jack wants to do is fine with me. Anyway, we had breakfast with them on because I wanted to thank the wife for proofreading all of them. Well, the wife is out there, like, I see dead people nuts! She's a medium and an occultist. She follows this self-help guru, Tony somebody, that gets his followers to walk on hot coals. No kidding. She wants to covert us! They bug us ALL THE TIME about getting together again. Thankfully they've never come to our house. I feel so bad for you two. You're so nice! Hopefully, they figured it out. Thanks for sharing.
Sal :))

    Oh no Sally,
I don't know which of us has it worse. I think you do because you're apparently still dealing with the problem. That would be totally distressing to have nut cases latch on to you. When I was at my first book signing in Juneau, I had a somewhat unstable fellow latch on to me and insist that I go to Subway Restaurant with him. I didn't want to offend him, so I went. Fortunately, it was a one time deal. Maybe the folks will walk on fire and won't be able to come to your shop anymore. Good luck gal.
    Have a blessed evening.

I have thought to ask this question to some who had stayed longer than my patience allowed, but instead disappeared and left them alone as I ambled off to bed, knowing my wife would entertain them til she fell asleep.

    Hi Tom,
that sounds like a wise move, as long as you don't have to worry about them taking off with your valuables while you're in bed. I hate to be rude to people, but what do you do when they don't have a clue? Thanks for the great review.
    Blessings,
    Tom
