Gypsy,
Great Jesei Naani poem.
At 67 I often think of what might happen to me tomorrow, or the next day...
Your beautiful poem brings some sadness (the lark), but happiness in knowing death is only the beginning of a wonderful life we really can't fathom.
Great poem, Gypsy.
Best wishes,
Cindy

Wish I had a six for this one Gypsy. I really like it!
It has a peaceful ring to it and your author's notes were so helpful in understanding the nature of this form.
So well done!

Yes, one thing is certain, we all must die. Many know when it's their time, some do not. Your presentation and poem are as excellent as we have all come know. Thank you.

Some people have clear premonition of when they are about to die. Sometimes they ask for something very unusual. The narrator recognizes that all living things die and accepts this part of life.

Excellent presentation as you thoughtfully remind us of the mortality of all living beings, including ourselves. Both images, as well as your words, are very meaningful and thought-provoking.

I like your allusions of life and death as in the end of the road. I even think I can see this connection with tge shorter burning candle nearing time to go out. I know that death is a transition in Zen philosophy as it is in some Christian beliefs. Thanks for sharing.
