I like your use of alliteration it creates a nice tone of humor: "Narcoleptic Nelly thought it meant the killer was a female. Narcissistic Nancy added that their nemesis must be a pretty gal." this is excellent I've got to read the rest of your chapters.

I wonder who else knows of their nighttime excursion as well as the writer of the note? Personally, I wondered if the earring was planted to put them off the track, and maybe this note is designed to do that as well. Interestting and good-humoured murder mystery.

Hattie discovers a note from an Ally saying she knew of the snooping around in Hattie's endeavour to find out who the killer is, who doesn't need money, maybe pretty, perhaps envious which is a motive, or is playing around with the investigation, great post Douglas, blessings Roy

Hmmmmm . . . .something is a foot!

These ladies have found something to get them excited and make them feel they are doing something worthwhile. Is this going to be a continuing saga where once one mystery is solved, they move on to the next one like Murder she Wrote or Agatha Christi's novels?

And so an interesting twist comes to life, very Charlie Chan style. Do one of your sleuths have a # 1 daughter or son? Stay tuned - I will

Aha! A lead for Hattie and the gang! So who's Phil? Not yet in your suspect list. And what's Hattie's next plan? I love that subtle interjection that one set of eyes was closed. Delightful comic murder mystery! Thanks for sharing, Doug. Debbie

I am wondering if this message's sole purpose was to throw these ladies and how did this person know they were investigating. I was it was a secret. HMMM, I need to think about this. I love the story.
"She doesn't know, Nancy. That's why she said 'unidentified benefactor'", (probably 'unidentified benefactor',")

Your continuation of Hattie's story is fantastic! I'm really enjoying how you build tension with the mysterious note. I especially liked the little details like the giggle and the ladies' amusing reactions to the earring. I thought it added a lot of charm to the story. Your characters are coming to life wonderfully.

Thank you!

Not just a clue but a motive as well... though since the person is anonymous, he or she might not be telling the truth and wants to mislead the girls. But at least, it gives them some excitement and reason to keep going forward. Great chapter, Doug. Look forward to hearing what Hattie and Director Chapman have to share.
