I remember long ago when I hadn't been driving very long and a cat ran out in front of me. I tried to miss it, but unfortunately I couldn't. I cried and went door to door on the street until I found where it belonged. I'll never forget how horrible I felt.

Thank you so much for sharing! That must've been awful but you were amazing to find and tell the owners - sometimes the worst part about loosing an outdoor cat is the hoping it comes back and never does :( I live on a farm and my biggest fear is hitting either one of mine or my neighbors cats, as a lot of them seem to like jumping in front of cars. I hope you have an amazing rest of your day!
Best,
Videl

Oh yes, there quite often lots of animals killed and left on the roadside to fester in the sun, forgotten creatures that are missed probably by someone, this is beautifully written Mia, we've owned many a pet, well done, blessings Roy

this poem reads well thanks to its structure and rhyming scheme.I think that the most important thing I could say about this poem for you is that it works without the illustration, the reader can work out that the black lump that wanted to best a tree in stanza two is cat.A melancholic piece all in all, thank you.

This is very well written and your presentation is very well done. I enjoyed listening to it very much. It has a touch of heartache and yet it also has a touch of positive. Thank you for sharing Patricia.

Hi Videl,
This is a well rhymed poem from the cat's point of view. Just like the cat, I can't believe someone could hit any animal on purpose. I hope there is a tree like the one he wanted to climb where he is going. Some would agree with your final statement, but some would say ignorance is dangerous as this cat found out.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a great day.

Nothing quite as damaging to one's soul as the loss of a beloved pet. People that don't have animals in their lives will never understand the bond. Losing a human loved one is different. There is understanding and words that are passed between us that are processed and recalled. With our pets, all we can do is show them our behavior, and hope they know how much they mean to us.
Well done -

That's so sad! Your storytelling though is so impressive. The perspective you chose is perfect. It gives the poem an unexpected voice. And I especially enjoyed the gentle rhythm that carried the story so naturally. The dialogue between the creature and the human is excellent. This is sad but I will remember it. Well done!
