This was a great piece of verse, though it was sad. I enjoyed the rhymes, and the message was lovely. Thank you for sharing this poem, and best wishes to you.

You have depicted here in simple, effective and devastating language what it's like to lose someone you love. The weight of such loss is impossible to convey to someone who has not experienced it themselves, but you did some justice to it here. Thank you for sharing.

Funerals seem to occur on rainy dull days and the weather was awful when I buried my husband too. I am sorry for your loss and many will identify with your sad and grief filled poem, love Dolly x x x

This poem, The Funeral, presented with six uni-rhyme quatrains and a couplet, depicts a worrisome and miserable affair where the subject was eventually interred during the rain. The sense of seeming futility was strong.

What an interesting theme, it fits in with the liberal forms that the contest has termed, free form is really anything that you feel comfortable with and even if one wants to write in a challenging form, beautifully written, and fits with the the finality of life, well done, blessings Roy
