Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I do actually have a few answers for some of your questions, but this isn't the time or place for these discussions. I enjoyed reading and want to wish you luck with the contest.

Ciao!
Well you have offered not one but a list of food for thoughts questions dilemmas that fuel many debates.
The ones that stood out for me are
The 2 amendment..personally I think people have a right to defend themselves and having one gun would do the job. .. owning an arsenal should not be allowed.
The one on abortion.
An unborn child's right to live must be protected.
A woman needs to be responsible of her actions , to do her utmost to avoid pregnancy if she doesn't want one.
A victim of rape is a tough one..
Her whole world would be shattered and it's understandable that her first reaction would be to rid herself of that spark of life but it is also a fact that that spark of life should not have to pay for his/ her father's crimes.
Like I said it's a tough one.
I don't think we should be forced to take vaccines.. it's my life and if I want to take my chances not taking a Covid shot , that's my business.
I liked the one about the Insurance companies
Those people that have the same values as Jesus had, are not interested in power or wealth, so they don't run for the presidency. So we don't get the opportunity to vote for them.
Gandhi was a rare exception, he wanted to help his people and they joined his non violent protests.

I see your profile says you joined FS in 2020, but you've only begun to post. I hope you find the spot your are looking for and enjoy writing and reviewing. As for your poem, it's very interesting and obvious that you've studied psychology...Asking questions that most don't want to answer. I steer clear of politics if possible, but I'd like to welcome you to FS.

Thank you for your welcome! I actually joined several years ago under a pen name, but I moved away from Fanstory for quite some time until I returned in 2020. Unfortunately, I didn't really start getting back into writing on her until this summer. I'm so glad I did, though.

Hello AZ and welcome to Fanstory.
This is an interesting free verse that engages the reader which is what a poem should do. Answers are intriguing too, often revealing more about the person answering and the question asked.
Answers sometimes end in a period. Usually knee-jerk responses that show little thought and rarely offer insight (exception, again, about the person answering). But not always.
Sometimes the question is rhetorical, answering itself; or inflammatory, intended to incense the reader; or humorous, seeking to light tensions.
Other answers are questions. While often frowned upon, these answers can be the best ones, because they extend the original question and begin conversation.
Thought is what ones is really seeking when they ask a question. But then, some simply want confirmation. Preaching to the choir, comes to mind.
Careful examination of the question reveals much, even the answer.
How right you are.
A fine post.
Best wishes.
Robert

An interesting poem that asks some great questions. I can see what your political inclinations are, by the questions asked. I believe there is an answer to each question, but l don't think you'd agree with then. Thanks for sharing. :)

I really like this poem full of thought-provoking rhetorical questions! Most of what you say I am in total agreement.

We do find ourselves being held to ransom on occasions in society and there are those who want to opt out of it and be nonconformists. In general our society tends to look after the majority and lumps people together and forgets that they are individuals with their own thought processes. But when it comes to vaccinations, we may feel forces into having them, but it is for the good of the whole. The school shootings is a whole different ball game. The 2nd amendments allows the population to take up arms and this will not change. But the laws regarding gun ownership should be tightened to protect the young.
A poignant write asking some difficult questions here and there are no clear right answers, much enjoyed, love Dolly x x x

The poem left me laughing all through the lines. Hahahaha! None of the questions actually has a simple answer, some no one dares to attempt an answer. The second to the last line remains a mystery to most people watching from a distance. A hilarious and creative work. Well done.

Steven Wright was a comedian in the 70's and 80's who used to ask those same kinds of questions. He was very popular because he made us think about the atrocities that surround us without making us feel atrocious in the process. I was on board with you until your very last Adam question, because that one seemed like hubris to me and not fitting for someone as smart and savvy as you. Everyone thinks they're right. It's not as if they'd go around espousing something they felt was wrong...um, right?
Anyway, good luck in the Free Verse Poetry contest.

ONLY THE LEFT WOULD ADVOCATE FOR THE RIGHT TO LIFE AND IMMEDIATELY SAY IT'S OKAY TO HAVE AN ABORTION. Just think if our parents had refused us the right to life just because we might be an inconvenience to them. We would not be here to argue the right to life. In that spirit, Adam asks why do liberals want to control the world, but can't stand to be told what to do? Good luck with all your questions about life, I'm just too busy living the one I was allowed to have. GOD bless you. You are right about the brown, humble carpenter, Obama was NOT one.
