That was very scary and interesting all at the same time. Definitely make a good horror movie to watch on Halloween night. I have never seen any horror movie about owls. There are a lot of Native American legends including owls. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on winning the contest.

That was a spooky encounter! Your story is well structured, building up to the ouija board/owl experience that set the tone from there onward. Then, when that magnificent bird flew straight at you, it must have been very frightening indeed. Everything about this post is excellent - clearly expressed narrative and dialogue and fulfilling the prompt with the supernatural theme. The only thing that niggled slightly - wouldn't they have checked that name on their phones rather than talk about hitting the library? That said, it may well have been pre-mobile phones. Thank you for sharing your excellent and spooky story! Good luck! Debbie

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I do appreciate it. And yes, this event took place when I was a teenager which was many years before cell phones. As a matter of fact, at nearly 72, I just got my first cell phone a couple months ago. It's handy for some things, but I still don't like it-LOL!

Very spooky. Not good to allow the evil things in....I grew up in Africa in a cannibal tribe. They had real witch doctors, sacrifices and spirit houses. Pretending is a really bad idea when we are surrounded by evil both real and imaginary. Good luck in the contest.

Your story subject is great and also a fun read for those who are intrigued by the unproven mysterious or unexplainable supernatural occurrences. Best of luck to you with this contest!

I can't find any Rozart Jimms. Info please. I am on pins and needles. In the house I used to live in things would disappear and return slightly altered. My husband's Blue cel phone, returned a week later, but is now black! True story. Good luck here. Karen

Thanks so much! We never did find much on Rozart Jimms, aside from both names being actual names and not made up. But after that encounter with him, weird things began to happen. Both my brother and I had experiences in which we were "told" it was him and he'd now become our companion spirit. We called him RJ and he hung around for quite awhile, then just vanished one day.

Hi

I'm going to stop reading this because of your font. I can't read your story. The only way I can read it is to copy and paste it and I can't do that over and over again because I lose my place and your story every time I do it. If I see this phone again, I won't be reviewing your story. I hate to be so blunt but I can't read it.

I enjoyed reading your story

Good job. Thank you for sharing.

I'm sorry you had difficulty viewing the font. I choose different types of font to match the feel of the story or poem. No one else has mentioned problems so I wasn't aware there was one. I did remove the Italics from it but kept the same font. I don't know if that helps. I appreciate the effort and the review. Thank you.

Truly an amazing story that had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Wow,I might have to look up who Rozart Jim's is. Owls usually are symbolic to light for they never sleep at night. You are such a creative writer. I am looking forward to reading more of your work. Thank you

An excellent entry for the Supernatural contest. I never mess around with Ouija boards and owl freak me out ever since I had a close encounter with a huge one around midnight one winter's evening in Florida. Good story. Nice dialogue. Good luck in the contest.

This really was a spooky supernatural tale. I am surprised to learn that it's true, but I don't doubt it at all. Thank you so much for sharing, and best wishes to you.

This is a perfect story for the prompt! It is told well and definitely qualifies as supernatural. I have to say I think ouija boards should be avoided, because they do work, but not within our control. Your owl theme throughout was great at weaving the story together.
