A sad write. From the first line to the last it evokes grief and desolation. And yet, the dog remains, a faithful friend that offers unconditional love and loyalty. I remember falling outside the house one day when I was pet sitting, I tripped over something and couldn't find the leverage to get up. No one was around. But my granddog just lay there beside me, unmoving. He wasn't going to leave me alone. Gave me the strength and determination to find a way to get to my feet.

Thanks for sharing your gift in this exquisite poem.

Blessings, Julia

I'm positive in this situation this day seemed even colder. I can't image it didn't. You did a great job expressing the emotion of this situation. Thank you for sharing.

While grieving for a lost loved one, it is so nice to have the company of friends, an excellent example of the Gogyohka form, very well written and presented****kahpot

That's so sad! And I know dogs are so compassionate that they really feel their human's emotions. I only feel that " camaraderie" doesn't feel right here. Maybe "commiseration" ?

I had some trouble with this one. I was thinking in Spanish. The word is "comarada" it doest translate well. The meaning is "equal friend" doing something together. I tried a few words and decided to use a simpler word.

        bitter cold day ?
    grief-stricken widow
    trembles at the cemetery
and her dog sits next to her
    in still silence

Thank you very much with your help.

    Love,

    Marival

Dogs are incredibly empathetic, they seem to understand grief, they sometimes handle it as a lot of humans handle it. You could read a story about a grieving dog called Blackfriars Bobby, it is a true story of a Skye terrier's devotion to his deceased master, also a film in 1961, There is a statue to honour this ultimate act of faithfulness in Edinburgh, Scotland, we've seen the statue. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

I think i watched that movie. Owner went to the train station and dog would meet him there at the end of day. Even after the owner died. It's very sad. Dogs are very loving and loyal.

    Thank you very much, Roy.
