This was enjoyable, I also tried to write memories from my upbringing yet as a teenager, I had an editor read it, and she said I needed more story, not just accounts of events, please post more, ty

Thank you Joann. I'm glad you enjoyed this. I'm just writing it as I remember and as if I'm relating it to a friend. It is fun to see what you can remember. You should write your memories again. I love to read other peoples true stories.

Oh, Beth, this is fascinating. It takes place long before I was born. I love the way you persist you can remember things when it's said to be impossible. I remember things as well from very early on. I can see you must have been a handful. I love it. Ulla xcx

Thank you Nom. I'm so glad you like this. I'd love to read an account of your life so I'm hoping to see one soon. We all have our own journey and they are all interesting.

The desired response is I cannot wait to write my story. The true ressponse is that even though the desire is there , I am terrified of putting the whole story out there. If I am to write one word, I feel compelled to tell the truth, nd some of the truth is not pretty. In my defense, I have grown immensely since my early days, so please do not judge me too harshly.
-
Nom. You shouldn';t even think
about skirting around the truth. All my truth isn't pretty either. You'll see if you keep reading. Everytime I post I'm nervous about what people may think, but if we aren't honest it isn't fair to us or the reader.
-
Of course you are right. Still I get just a little bit nervous.

This is an excellent remembrance of your childhood. At 85, I can remember to when I was 3 but nothing more. Yes, I remember the war days during my childhood living at an arsenal. Good one, Beth.

Thank you for the great review. I can remember better three and after too. I was told a lot about what when on before that but much of it seems like I'm remembering it. I appreciate the six stars. You were here last week. I clicked on something you wrote to read it but you had taken it off.

This was a fascinating write. I was familiar with the sugar tit and the bouncer, although I don't think I ever had one. What really struck me was the variety of reading matter that you were exposed to, and that I can relate to.
Wonderfully told!

We are what we are taught whether we like it or not. It isn't until we get old enough to figure things out that we can see exactly where all of our weird foibles came from. My mom taught me many awful things and ways to think of myself but it turns out her mom taught he seriously awful things as well. It all goes around in a circle that we call family. I hope that if I come back to this life, i will come back as a golden retriever. Nice story. Thanks for sharing.

It is true our parents do have a big influence over how we think of outselves as children. I think growing up around only adults wasn't the best for me. I really wanted siblings. My Dad had some problem that rubbed off on me ane Mom wasn't perfect either but I'm thankful they both loved me. Surely there aren't any animals mixed in our circle of life, but dogs are nicer than some humans.

Yes, I have to agree, your memory is remarkable, as I have opined, it's almost as if I I had little infant and young boy experiences, only flashes come back, now that my parents are deceased I don't have the allies to work with either. Beautifully written Beth, blessings Roy

My grandmother made the same "pacifier" for my mother when she was a child. It's what grandmothers knew to do.
"When I starting smiling" - started
I'm cringing while reading that you were beneath that stove! What a quick thinker; I would have just pulled by the feet, you would have lifted your head and "burned your brains out".
The bouncer story reminds me of all the stories you've shared of your children and the wild situations they got themselves into. Sound familiar?
I love that you performed as a farm animal - and took requests!
A delightful chapter, Beth.

Thank you Pam. I'm so glad you liked my chapter. I was surprised so many know about the sugar tit. I thought it sounded disgusting but if it envolved sugar I probably liked it. Thanks for the six stars.

I had never been interested in reading anything but fiction until I started reading your essay. I think you caught my interest because you don't pull any punches. Meaning, you tell the whole truth, good and bad, where most just share what they want readers to know. My old friend, Sam Shepard, who was the only reason I ever started writing in the first place always said that being completely honest and open is the key to being a great writer. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Ric, It is a really ego booster to know I've captured your attention with non-fiction. I'm unfiltered and unable to do anything other than write it as I remember it.
