Sometimes, all it takes is a little change of venue to make one appreciate her lot in life. A wise tail...er, sorry...TALE here, indeed. Good luck with it at the polls, Mystery Contestant. xo

Thank goodness for Susie, and for Gina's realizing what she had before it was too late. Your story is cute and, without the 50-word contest restraint, I suspect you could stretch this into a nice little children's story to submit to someplace like "Highlights," as it has a good message. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. Never thought of "Highligts" thanks for the idea.

My pleasure. You have a sort of "Wizard of Oz"/"There's no place like home" theme there, and it's important for kids (and many adults) to learn to appreciate what they have.

Thanks for the thought. Did not think. Maybe I should have named the goldfish Dorothy.

This was very funny. One of the funniest memories I had with my daughter when she was small was about a goldfish, who we thought was dead, jumping out of the bowl in the morning. This reminded me of that. It's well written and fits perfectly for the challenge.

Best wishes,

Alex
