Your words declare a profound truth that destroys that trite adage. Certain emotional traumas in childhood leave permanent scars that warp our personality forever. Simply beautiful! Well-deserved recognition.

Guess yall are cold up there. (brilliant statement)
We are having lovely weather, though we never know from one week to the next. We could still have another freeze. However, by my front door I have planted pots of pansies and snapdragons. Here's to wishful thinking!

Today here was gorgeous. No snow, not cold. It's been the strangest "winter" here ever!, too!

This twelve-word poem, When the Truth Hurts, has the required word count and reminds the readers that there are wounds that cannot be seen, and those that cannot NOT be seen.

So very true! There are wounds that we never recover from and so adages like "Time heals all wounds" are sometimes hurtful to those who are suffering from those old wounds. Congratulations on another win!!

Thank you for this review tonight, too!! I feel as if I have hit the Helen jackpot. Thank you for these three generous reviews! I couldn't appreciate them more. xoxo

You make a poignant observation. It is indeed true, time does not heal all wounds--one reason I try very hard to avoid using cliches when addressing someone. The provided image immediately points to the plight of wounded veterans, which sadly remains a real problem today; the poem could of course be expanded to include any number of physical or mental traumas. These types of contests (10 words, 12 words, only two lines, whatever) are rather odd. if you were not constrained by word-count, how would you have written this differently? I'd be very curious to see that!
Side note: personally I am not a big fan of capitalizing nouns outside the usual conventions of grammar. There is a convention for capitalizing "time" when referring to it as an abstract entity, but that isn't quite what you're doing here. Given how the short the piece is, the capitalization does stick out a bit and you might want to consider placing
the word in lower case. But as always, in the end it is your poem to do with as you see fit!

Hi, Ben ~
Thanks for the deep and interesting review here. It's very thought-provoking, which I both like and appreciate.
I have been accused often --usually by the editors I used for my book-- of capitalizing when I had absolutely no reason to do so. Guilty as charged there, I guess. I DO [oh wow --double caps there] like Time to be capitalized nearly all the, uh, time. But I know what you're saying, plus I don't disagree that it's a more modern affliction that a correct form of grammar.
I like the prompts that challenge us to get a point across in very few words. I think it's far, far easier to write a piece with no word constraints. I mean, my gawd, Ben, I'm a Jewish Mommie, I have my PhD in talking ad infinitum!! [I was going to capitalize those last three words but showed restraint. You're welcome.]
Thank you for taking the time to bring a unique slant to the reviewing process here. I genuinely liked what you brought to my day with it. xoxo

Congratulations on your winning the 12-word contest. Your entry was touching and thought-provoking. You expressed a lot in those few words. And your accompanying photo was perfect for your words.

They're a great challenge, aren't they? When you have so few words to use, you're made to be really selective. Thanks for this nice review, which I appreciate very much. xo

Yes, they do...
I'm retired Army, with severe PTSD. Thank you for this. Well done. Most people just do not understand. Surviving doesn't always equal well...
I appreciate your work!! Awesome image.

First, thank you for being so selfless as to take care of all of us back here while you put your life on the line, most likely didn't eat or sleep well, and agreed to spend a vast amount of time away from your own family. You are one of the angels who walk among us.
I'm so sorry your reward for all that altruism is PTSD. That is just so very wrong.
Thank you for continuing your generosity with this kind review and the additional star, as well. I appreciate YOUR work, Soldier. Tonight, I hope you feel being included in my prayers.

I love these poems with few words. This is so true and the photograph proves it. It doesn't need anymore words to say it any better, it is tragically perfect. :)

This is a very poignant statement, and the picture perfectly blends to its intent, and besides being marred by physical ailments, their are those within our heads which are more difficult to address since they are hidden.
