As a long time dog and cat owner, I enjoyed this perceptive piece about the diffs between these two families of mammals. And I agree that dogs are smarter; communicating with cats, beyond pettings, feedings, and sourcing outbursts of frustation at having your best chair's fabric ruined, communicating with cats is like playing tennis in a deep nocturnal fog. So this piece is fun, and I wish my cats could read it so they'd develop some humility. Fat chance.

Thanks, and thanks for the six stars. I love dogs and cats equally, but I must admit the dog is easier to get along with. All the animals mentioned in this story reside with me today. It keeps life interesting.

Dogs are meant for human companionship. Cats can fend on their own, as well as a child reaching puberty, then the cat is superior for whatever wiring humanfolk have, especially men, things go haywire.
A simple enjoyable read.

Thank you. I love dogs and cats equally. Cats can be difficult in some way, yet easier to get along with in other. For instance, if you want to leave for a few days you can put out plenty of food and water and the cats will be fine until you return. Where a dog needs someone to take care of it every day. Dogs don't do well if left alone.

I thank you, and Pup does, too. I love cats and dogs equally. Cats are probably the most difficult when it comes to training them, but it can be done.

This is a clever and creative change and it is well written. I think dogs and cats are above the feelings that humans have.

I like that your story ends with reasonably with thoughts about needing cats and living with whom they are, for the greater good. God forbid cats and dogs become stubborn like humans.

Well, Pup, you've said it very well. I love dogs, too. I miss the last one we had. I once knew a lady who Siamese cat jumped on a burglar before he could mount the stairs, and tore him up so badly, the police were able to track him by the blood trail. Most of what you say I agree with, but here at our house, we are all obedient cats to our mom. We all wish you luck in the contest.

I thought the post was funny. From a dog's perspective, I can see where he thinks he's superior, but it is also the same thing he accuses the cats of. The ending was nice since no matter the differences or attitudes, love conquers all. The only thing I want to point out is the three paragraphs starting with "We dogs." Perhaps a variation would be better.

Thank you. I enjoy writing stories from an animals point of view. I have lived with animals all my life, and pretty much know what they are thinking.
