Thank you very much, Lisa. I understand what you mean. I use paintings, pictures, poems, and music to conjure emotions I use for my poems. I'm happy I inspired you to paint. I'm a painter too.
Thank you for the exceptional six stars review and kind words.

You deserved the 6 Stars!!

Interesting love knot of a piece you have here. There's an underlying tension to the language here, there's hope, there's despair, there's the pain of unrequitted love. I like how you start this off with that tempestuous adjective that seems to imply a desperate tossing and turning, a wild abandon that gets tangled into this sense of absence. Loved the undercurrent of raw emotion seething under the surface. Subtle and effective. estory

Hi MariVal,
This is a good tanka review of the opera Madame Butterfly. Although I never saw the opera, I did listen to the recording of the music and tried to read the libretto when my mom played it. She was a big opera fan and Madame Butterfly was one of her favorites. Along with Aida
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Enjoy your weekend.

As you know, this is by far my favorite opera. So beautiful and complex. All the emotions and drama. The American slant vs the Japanese way. Beautifully written. As always. Gretchen

Yes, Madame Butterfly is my favorite opera too. The songs are so heartwrenching and moving... you can feel her pain and his betrayel.
Thank you, Gretchen. :)

What a gorgeous poem and story! To be frank, I didn't have a clue what Madame Butterfly was about, but I love the dramatic (in art, not in real life).
Even though I've read lots of your poems, you never cease to surprise me. It's incredible how much you pack in so few words. And how beautifully you say it.

I have to confess I'm not into opera, but there are certain 'songs' (arias?)I like very much, like Nessun Dorma. Hugs

Not all relationships work out and we miss the passion of that first flush of romance, but some don't stand the test of time, and we are just left with the memories, a fine post, love Dolly x x x

You covered the plot of that opera well. Even though the story is sad, the music is great and it does probably describe a story that probably happened all too often around the world.

Yes, I think there are a lot of American babies around the world. My brother lives in Thailand 6 months of a year and he says there are a lot of old man living with beautiful young girls...it's Grose.
I like madame butterfly opera but it's very sad.
Thank you, big sister (*÷*)
Love
