They sure picked the right gift for you. I hope it all goes well.
One day I had heard my mother in law say that it is so hard to find card for every occasion these days, so I made her an album.
I got all the important dates from her telephone book, and began writing. Plus over the years I had heard a lot of stories about all these people. I made her a whole year of cards.
I bought a few, but most I wrote. I might put A cirlique on the front, maybe tastefully cut out a picture from an old card. Or, just write "To my friend" in a flowing script.
She was flabberghasted. She was flipping through and got to the August folder. August the 12th, my birthday. It was red paper, my favorite color, It had A golden drawn heart with swirls all about it. Inside it said, To one of the most unique people I have ever met. You never fail to surprise. I have enjoyed having you in my life. She turned to me and said, that is all true! I teared right up, and so did she. She used it.

What a wonderful idea, Barbara. I agree that the younger generation may not care or even draw anything from our thoughts and life's endeavors, but as I have learned through the years, they will become awesome treasurers as they age and we are no longer here to share those moments. My children complained constantly about their grandfather retelling his stories at every family gathering. Now they wish he'd written them down.
Happy writing. I know you will fill the pages with love.

What a wonderful and amazing idea!
Today I said I was sorry that I did not ask my father and grandmother more questions about coming to the US, and did my dad remember his father at all.
Your gift will have you always be with your grandchildren and their children as they read your letters and get to know you.
Best wishes

This sounds like a wonderful idea. When your grandchildren are older, I
believe they will definitely enjoy reading something about your life.
Something they never knew. As I have gotten older, I think more about
my own grandmothers. Yesterday, I realized I never knew my father's
mother's birthday month.

I am trying to think of things to write that they'd like to know. Thank you for dropping by and leaving this kind review.

I think they would like to know what
you did as a child. For me I lived in
Ohio, we played in the woods, picked
blackberries. My grandkids are california kids. My daughter never let
them leave the yard or walk home from school. We walked home in the
snow. What were our Christmases like. We only got three gifts. Couldn't date until 16. Married young, usually only guy we dated.
Once you start writing, something of
interest for them will come to you.
Especially if you notice what's ordinary for them wasn't ordinary for us.

What a lovely idea! I hope you realize there's no reason you can't share in it FanStory stories and poems you've written, especially ones that involve your grandchildren. I'm sure they'd be thrilled and flattered to read them when they get older. This was a great gift idea. Enjoy filling the pages!

This is an exciting gift. After my husband died, I wanted my grandchildren to remember him. I found these books on Amazon that have questions and prompts about our life together and things like that. I try to work on them as often as I can, but he hasn't even been gone four years yet, and it is really hard. Good luck on your letters.

Barbara,
This is a brilliant prologue to your book A Paper Time Capsule. While the gift you received may prove to be an interesting challenge. I am confident you will write a series of stores in letter form about you and your life that will be a lasting legacy and a wonderful gift for your grandchildren. I can;t wait to read your Keepsake Collection.
All the best,
Eugene

What a beautiful gift from your son and daughter-in-law. I'm so happy that you shared with us. I'm sure you have notes and you want to find out what way to start.
Possibly you can make a little outline of things that make you laugh, things that make you happy, you know different things and then from there find the stories that fit those things you've expressed. From there, you could elaborate on each story.
I mean to say, focus the letters on on you and how you feel about things. For instance, if you enjoy laughing give a story where you couldn't stop laughing, things like that.
Some of the stories from of the stories from when you were younger, as a little girl maybe it could relate to how, when you got older, the things you liked as a kid, led to how you became an adult, or have lived as an adult. Express certain things, moments, memories, and what they meant to you, so you're a little grandchildren sort of foresee what they might do in the future because of what they like as kids.
Forgive me, it was a bit emotional for me to think of this, is a strange for me and I don't really know my grandchildren; they're younger than seven.
The violent ex husband I left when she was one, charger Against Me little by little over the years until when she was 18, she just didn't like me anymore.
So of course it hurts.
God bless you and many years to you, enjoying your family.

This is a sweet endearing way to keep in touch with your grandchildren. I love the idea and would do the same thing if I had children to send to but I have never had any children so I can only live vicariously through you.
Thanks for bringing up one of my feelings as a writer as well. I am never satisfied! I can find myself editing and re-editing as I go along.
