Ciao Sugarray,

the picture you found is just mesmerizing... I can't understand those that don't like Autumn and just see it as a "dead " season.

Those vibrant hues are just like a torch ablaze...your beautiful poem deserved to win. The poem that won is okay (it's childish )

it clearly lacks the poetic artistry your poem possesses.

Hello Franca... thank you for your lovely comments. They really encouraged me!! I love to write poetry and just posted a new one about 'my muse' it isn't in the contest, but the prompt did inspire me. Hugs, sweet friend.

This is beautiful, vibrant with colours and skilful verse. Love all the imagery too in such an economical verse form. Well done. My favourite of the contest. Best wishes Debbie

Your poem is well written. Fall is a beautiful time of the year, but I am ready to see the trees open their buds and warmth produce flowers blossoming. My blue bells are covered with snow this morning.

Oh, Rosemary, my Virginia Blue Eyes are peeping at me with their blue, blue eyes. Wish I could see your 'frosted' blue bells !!

I've seen several excellent entries for this contest and this is one of them - should be competitive in the booth.

The burning metaphor extends throughout the poem and the 'apostrophe' signalled by 'O' as the first word points to this as a true ode.

Good luck.

Steve

This is terrific! I think it might win as it fits the ode request and describes autumn so well. I especially like your use of brazen (bold; brassy) and verdant with the imagery of the red flames licking out after ignition by the torch.

Oh Autumn, ignite
your brazen torch to lush trees -
red leaves all aflame

great autumn haiku

one suggestion i have is to maybe try a red/orange background and a gold font? just a thought ;)

thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest

Autumnal colours are vibrant and bold and you created a rich colourful scheme here full of abundant texture in the trees, much enjoyed, love Dolly x x x x

I like this, most poetic, one would probably find this narrative in longer versions of poetry, but you've dealy affirmatively with the glory that is autumn, well done, blessings Roy

Thanks so much. I was surprised to see an ode with a 5-7-5 requirement, but gave it a try :)
