Hi Debi, I'm so empathic for
the ordeal you went through.
The Lord helped you rally
through it. (My sister-in-law
had a tough birth with my
niece and needed blood
transfusions.) You have my
every sympathy. Knee replacement surgery must
be quite involved. I was supposed to have gotten
the same surgery last year
but opted out. May you
continue to do well, good
friend. Your granddaughters
artwork is also very impressive. Blessings to you
and your family. xxo

Don't ever be afraid to have your knees . I just wished it would have helped my walking. Thanks again my sweet friend!

powerful and moving poem about undergoing surgery. I can feal your pain. I underwent 16 surgeries in my life - 14 after a jogging accident led to a MDR staff infection that almost killed me. Details on my portfolio.

Wow. The title intrigued me. I don't usually go directly to the featured poems and stories. Then I wondered if this was true. It's interesting how like this, the most eloquent words are not what matters. The true words that describe the real emotions and impact make a difference to the reader here. So glad you are doing better. The new and improved, I hope.

Wow, that all sounds like a harrowing experience. You show lots of true emotion ranging from excited anticipation all the way to absolute fear after the first surgery. Your words were chosen well and flow very smoothly while you relate the things you've experienced. Great entry to the contest.

Debi...

Thanks for sharing your surgery story with us. Life is so full of unexpected challenges and difficulties. Add to that the disappointment of unmet expectations and it can be overwhelming at times. Here are some helpful words of wisdom for such a time as this:

Consider it pure joy whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. ~ James 1:2-4

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. ~ Joshua 1:9

Hang in there, my friend. Here's to the second one going well enough to eclipse the first one.

Blessings...

Curt (WRW)

Hahaha. Herman Munster singing. You made my day! Everyone I know has one good knee replacement and one bad. Your bad was a little more intense than what others have told me. Great poem. Full of the true life fears and disappointments that go along with hospitals and surgeries. Great job on this. Gretchen

Hi Gretchen, thanks for your sweet comments, but none of these were about knee replacements, in fact my main surgeries were about my legs, not as much about the knees. And the code blue was called because my blood pressure and heart rates were down in the 20s, my heart went into distress and my hemoglobin went down lover than a four, so I wasn't getting oxygen to my my brain either. On a brighter side, I have learned to look on the brighter side even more than before. I am thankful to be back with all of you again. Thanks again my sweet friend.

Debi, you are such an amazing person! It touched me as I read this, to see how no matter what, you never lose you buoyant spirit or your undeniable sense of humor. This is a poem that maintains its cheerfulness in spite of the difficulty of the circumstances you describe. I admire your spirit and also your rhymes and meter and thank you for sharing this. MM

Oh my, I was so sure I had thanked you for this one already, so i am so sorry for being so late. I had written out a whole bunch and thought they had saved, but didn't look to make sure. Now I am wondering if you didn't get one in particular that I sent you. Did you receive my nomination? I did it after I wrote you telling you how much your kindness means. And I could tell you over and over and it still wouldn't be enough so in case you didn't get that, thank you again for always being so kind. I have enjoyed your reviews so much and I cannot wait to be able to start reviewing others more. I owe you a gazillion of them, and I thank you for your very kind comments. I appreciate it so much.

I can understand
being fearful after all you had been through. Thank God the second surgery went smoothly and you are feeling better. I would have been apprehensive . Very well written and thank you for sharing!

Debi, what score did I give you and what is the name of the poem?
Your poems are never worth less than five and most a six. How can I change the rating? Yes, you are my very good friend. I don't want to lose you. I have been fighting COVID on top of Parkinsons.
My head must have been somewhere else. I am extremely sorry.

Willie

Oh Willie, I knew in my heart something was wrong, because your reason for giving me a one had nothing to do with the poem. It was called "the beauty of their story. All you have to do is go back and change the number. I appreciate that so much. Thank you for making it right. And you couldn't lose me as a friend if you tried. I am just so sorry you were going through that.
I do however thank you for your very generous six on this one and I am so glad you are yourself again. God bless you my friend.
