"Oh, that's why she told me her name was Scarlett. I was so confused." Samantha shook her head. "She's such a darling but seemed (confused)." Although this is dialogue, the overuse of this word, in my opinion, makes the sentence jerky. (muddled)
(Sam let her eyes graze) around the opulent patio and garden before she focused on James. (Sam gazed)

Yes! Samantha came to the house with an agenda, ready to play and win. She already knew Lady Marian. Surprise, surprise. She was already familiar with the garden and wall art, as well as Moretti Productions. Surprise, surprise. James has no real game plan. He's just evil and ruthless. Interesting that Marian and Sam have known each other for thirty years, and both are in some sort of understanding regarding James. They will need to be careful - and so will he!
