Oh, Man! This poem brought tears to my eyes. Particularly the stanza:
"Before,
Love undervalued
Time overlooked."
So tender, Terry. And something, I imagine, the survivor always feels -- if he or she is a loving person. I was wondering why I didn't get this in my inbox since I'd fanned you. But it's because it was a repost, and we're not notified of reposts.
I'm sending you a personal message, Terry, with a favor to ask.

That was the first thing I ever posted to FS, it got second in the freestyle poetry contest...then the committee figured out who I was and never placed again...LOL, I have deleted my portfolio of work except for the poem. Tomorrow I will post my final story about Zoe, if you read it you will understand why. Terry.

I'll be looking for it, Terry!

Oh, Terry, that is sad. I have just seen it while I was checking your posts.
Heartfelt and hurting.
It's been 25 years since my husband died. He was a funny, sweet man. That's how I remember him.
How lovely that you got All Time Best for this post. It was well written and poignant.

Laurie, thank you for your kind review. Zoe and had 45 years together, so I remember those. Terry.

This is quite touching. I especially like the ending. That last line really delivers.
Very thought provoking. A sweet and mournful poem. I also like the graphics and color used. Very nice.
Peace,
Judith

Judith, I am not much of a poet. But for someone like you, who can capture raw emotion and express it in poetry so well, I am indeed humbled and appreciate your review. Thank you for reading. Tery.

You are a splendid poet Terry. Keep on writing.

god I can feel your lost in this deeply moving poem about love lost and having to go on alone in life, missing them every day, every moment hearing them seeing them in your mind's eye

Terry, you honored Zoe in such a wonderful way. She was beautiful.
These lines caught and held my attention. We are all too guilty of this:
Before,
Love undervalued
Time overlooked.
You have expressed heart-break exquisitely. Painfully, but beautifully.
Blessings, sir.

Deb, Thank you for the six stars! I appreciate you reading my poem about my wife of 45 years. Terry.

I love your post, Terry. It's very well written and moving. Do you mind if I ask who Zoe was? Of course you don't have to answer if you don't feel like it.
Good luck in the contest,
MJ

MJ, Thank you for the six stars! Zoe was my wife for forty-five years. I should have added that in the notes. I don't write much poetry, but I do write lots of stories and many feature Zoe. I think of myself as a storyteller and not a poet. Thank you very much for reading. The poem did come in second in the contest. Terry.

Hello Terry,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a spouse must be unbearable.
I thought Zoe maybe was a pet and, although that's sad, this is much worse.
Like you, I think I'm good at prose, but not at poetry, but I'm under the impression your poem is much better than any I've ever written.

Thank you.

This is a lovely poem of remembrance for one much loved. The first sentence, though sad, is my favorite in the poem. It is such a striking image. There are many creative thoughts here. I appreciated your poem.
