Howdy Bill, my vote placed your contest submission in third place. I selected your entry because of its use of humor. Hope your four line poem garners more votes.

Thank you, Paul, for the vote. I did end up in third. Looks like Boogienights took the cake. Happy day.

This is a fun poem. The reader will be scampering to look up these unfamiliar words. How you could match up those rhyming words and have them make sense is quite a feat. I reminds me of the books by Dr. Seuss. This definitely could be among his pages.

Thank you, Liz. That is an uplifting comparison that humbles me.

You could begin a collection of those. You are very adept at it.

It does indeed rhyme. It also reads fast and steady off the tongue. I can feel the the distaste for the meal in the overall theme of the poem.
I wish you good luck in the contest.

Hello, my friend,
Excellent entry for the 4 line rhyming poem writing prompt contest. Beautiful presentation and imagery. Good rhyme scheme.
I like the visual effects of meal cooked by mom.
Well done. Good luck in the contest.

This made me smile, it is very amusing.
It's also bouncy, so the two together mean it gives us a welcome lift. However, I think for maximum effect the second line is a syllable short (just a thought).

Hi Bill,
I can see why you tried blintz when you were ten years old, and never again. It would not be on my supper list either. I like the humor in your entry, and the rhymes rolling off the tongue. But my tongue would never go near this meal. It looks like uncooked dough.
I have tried a Lebanese dish, though... "Warak Enab" in Arabic, rice and spiced meat wrapped in grape leaves. I'd have another if ever given the opportunity.
Good Luck in the contest!
Cheers,
Kimbob

Thank you, Kimbob. Quince are like crabapples if that are half the size and three times as sour.

This is a great 4 lines poem. Its descriptions are lovely, reminds me of a good home. The words quince and mint make a fabulous nice rhyme. I wish you the best in this contest.

I've never had either a quince or a blintz. I don't think I'd do either one a second time either. Your poem rhymes, makes sense, and is entertaining. Very nice job. Good luck in the contest.

Dear Bill, as soon as I finish telling you how much I enjoyed your rhymes, I am going to have to go online and find out what half these ingredients are. And then decide whether your decision was based on taste alone!

You will find that quince are best served -- to someone else.
