Merry Christmas Mystery Author,
What a wonderful holiday tradition to have....kids , grandkids and cocoa.
Nothing could be better than that for the holidays.
Loved the passion and sentiment.

This is a wonderful entry for the Christmas contest. The picture is perfect. I love how the day unfolds through the poem. All sweet, but the ending is the sweetest. The sigh of exhaustion coupled with a heart filled with love and joy. This is what Christmas is about. Good luck!

I am not an expert, but here is what I noticed.
Rhymes were pleasant but the rhythm was choppy. By that, I mean that the lines had differing numbers of syllables which made it a little difficult to read. But I love the sentiment and storyline.

Actually, each line has 14 syllables even though the lines are of different lengths. Syllables were checked on two syllable counters.

Dear Mystery Dad,

Man! I get it. *smile* I get my two grandgirls every day and I ADORE them, but rests are good in between. Shhh....

That picture is perfect for your poem! I think it should be 'leftover(s)' though. Thanks and good luck!

I love this. You tell the complete story of Christmas day==down to the Oreck cleaner. There's energy in your story and then there's the blessed relief from the excitement. That's so true.
I will miss such Christmases this year. It will be much simpler and quieter. I will have to enjoy the quiet aspect of the holidays.
Your rhymes are excellent. I think that I would make the font red. There's not enough contrast between the background and the words.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for the read and the suggestion. I will consider the question of contrast. Very helpful.

What a beautiful image, and it is easy to imagine, because of the eloquence of your words and the their fluency. It is warm and loving, and the picture is perfect, love and harmony and peace, and satisfaction with a life well lived. Best wishes for the contest.

Ha! So your favourite thing about Christmas is when it's over! I suspect many people will agree with your view as presented in this lovely poem.

Good description of a warm family Christmas with good rhyme and rhythm.

hub bub should be one word, I think.
