We all suffer to some degree.
A Planet in Distress
Since Dawn of time, the fate of man,
doomed by decree of the Divine,
dictates we reap results of Adam’s sin.
It isn’t fair we cry-- I didn’t ask for this.
Why must I pay the penalty of another?
We suffer, one and all, but not the same.
Our sojourn on the planet is our test.
Distress doesn't dissapear when shared with others.
Endurance till the end is an enigma.
We whine and whimper to those willing ears,
assuming what befalls us is a greater pain than theirs.
Be it physical or mental, we seek to share--
presuming sympathy provides some solace.
It seldom works--the pain grows worse with the retelling.
And yet, prehaps the tears of others is our cross to bear
If we could know the truth from those who suffer silently,
I wonder, would we trade our pain for theirs?
