Some mistakes hurt for life...

A Wound That Never Heals

by Diana L Crawford

He was a young and handsome type
who fell in love with you one night.
He kissed you as no other had
and safe within his arms you felt.

So young at sixteen - just a child,
and he was not much older too.
You sought the love you never had
in days when free love reigned supreme.

But when the months did roll on by,
they found that you were full with child.
No one, but me, did hold your hand
when others gave you bad advice.

Your single mother could not help,
and you - too young to marry him -
were forced into that sad clinic
and told that it was best for all.

Your deepest tears you cried, I know;
they thought your body was in pain.
But none of them could understand
your wounded heart would never heal.

Back in the 70s, parents did not discuss the pitfalls of sexual encounters with their teenagers, let alone about birth control. This is a true story about a dear friend who got caught up in the hippie lifestyle of free love, and it cost her greatly.

Thankfully today, there is more education and better options than abortion. If you are interested in supporting the help available for teens in trouble, please visit https://www.healthyteennetwork.org/teens/resources-pregnant-parenting-teens/. Donations are needed and appreciated.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
