I succumbed to a place of murky grey
dragging my body to weaken and stay
no light was seen as blackness came
just endless peace with no more pain
I fell with ease, though troubled mind
as the bottom rose, too easy to find
silence came, as the stillness churned
changing directions, my body turned

laying down I glimpsed the sky
through dying embers lifting high

I saw the passing of a life once mine
as my will resisted this darkened time
a strength emerged from pain inside
drawing me out like the ebbing tide
reminding me of a wonderous light
in a world of love that's worth my fight
I'll stay right here with faith to cope
for life bestowed from one man's hope

still laying down I see clear sky
my precious life now lifting high
