A child's brain is like a sponge.

A Curious Child

by Brigitte Elko

Everything I see,
everything I do,
Come on I want to talk to you.
What is a tornado? A vicious form,
is it a storm?

Tell me about the sky.
How many stars are up high?
Tell me about the land,
tell me about your favorite band.

Tell me about babies,
tell me why dogs get rabies.
I want to know what makes us tick,
why do some people get really sick?

My brain's a sponge always reeling,
can monkeys really hang from the ceiling?
Do astronauts fly or float?
Why does one get milk from a goat?

Where are the rivers heading to?
The oceans, why do they look blue?
So much to learn,
talk to me, I'm tired of that old T.V.

I don't want You Tube,
don't want that T.V.,
I really want talking,
with you sitting next to me.
