Born in Pennsylvania.
Hated high school I majored in football and wrestling. Graduated high school and basic training before turning eighteen. Impregnated girlfriend, two kids in two years, divorced in three.
Went everywhere but the electric chair, saw everything but the wind, and met the enemy face to face and kicked his ass. Served 12 years then got out.
An eight-month-old died from SIDS, mom died from cancer, and grandmother of kidney failure within the year I got out.
Was the first in my family to graduate college. Married my best friend and became a teacher.
Started writing for a newspaper.
Earned a Master's then had a spinal abscess, left me paraplegic. Got better, had hips replaced and walked in 54 5k races in two years. Had an aortic aneurism, got it fixed.
Now back at a newspaper part-time and teaching full time

Writing Prompt Write the entire story of your life in no more than 150 words. You can be experimental, creative, funny, serious, provocative, reflective, whatever style you best feel represents your life. You must write about your entire life, not just a moment of it. No poetry (too easy). No fiction (YOUR life), although metaphors are acceptable so long as they are directly interpretable to be about your life. You'll be surprised at what your life looks like in 150 words... |
