Poetry
A chapter in the book Poetry NOOK
Autumn of Life
These trees represent people
In their third stage of Fall
Still have waning lives
Before the stone cold truth
Memories are the fallen leaves
Scattered from a full life
Yet slowly losing their strength
While fading away from view
Many are richer in hue
Some last longer to wither
In the third season of life
Health has played a part
Those who are sacrificed to rot
Will wither and die first
The ones which are brightest
Have got what they did need
Tree trunks are the people
With healthy sap and strength
Who still stand strong
Through the test of time
Unlike man who gives
But also takes in return
Wonder at their beauty
Which is unconditional
