A lyrical poem about forbidden love

That's Where My Heartaches Begin

by Brett Matthew West

I didn't know you weren't free to fall in love with me
And, there's one at home I should be true to faithfully
We meet in the middle of a bridge that just won't burn
Clinging to each other past the point of no return

And, that's where my heartaches begin
This time they'll never mend
I wish I could tell you this is the end
But, that's where my heartaches begin

The world is so cold and lonely down here on my knees
I can't take it any longer, girl, I'm begging please
Let me feel your body as we cross over that line
Your love drives me crazy. I'm going out of my mind

And, that's where my heartaches begin
This time they'll never mend
I wish I could tell you this is the end
But, that's where my heartaches begin

I've got to find a way to get your love off my mind
But, how can I leave the only thing I want behind
Lying here in the shadows, where our love we revive
'Neath starry skies, hold me tight. Make me feel alive

And, that's where my heartaches begin
This time they'll never mend
I wish I could tell you this is the end
But, that's where my heartaches begin
