Creating a charcoal drawing

Le Chapeau Rose

by HarryT

Clutching charcoal bars and eraser
hunched over the dining room table
she strokes the drawing paper
soft lines laid, a smudge
here and there, working quickly
crafting eyes, nose and a smile
sweet as sugared lemonade

Before her emerged a prim, young
Victorian woman, lace collar climbing
unhurriedly up to the tilt of her chin
pert lips glowing misty rose-pink
haunting eyes hold secrets deep
Le chapeau rose on golden-red hair

The product of her artistry
Enhances our rec room wall
