A family tradition continues.
To Sarah Jean on her Christening Day
This Christening dress is truly a treasure,
its importance to our family is beyond measure.
In 1917, it was made with much care
by your great great grandmother for her baby to wear.
With loving hands she put her first child in this dress,
then kissed his forehead with a sweet tenderness.
His Baptism took place at the Church of St. Anne
and Gene's life as a child of Christ began.
For one hundred years this white dress has been worn
by babies whose Baptism made them reborn.
Today is your day to be Baptized and blessed,
joining three generations Christened in this dress.
The fabric is linen trimmed with white lace,
the perfect garment to wear when clothed in God's grace.
