A trip going wrong
Runaway
by Ulla
The train just sat there. The steam that came from its engines, almost hid it from view. The locomotive had an aggressive look to it, as if it could hardly contain the power within. You could feel the vibrations from it, expecting it to jerk into action at any moment. It was menacing.
We walked along the side of the train, on something you could hardly call a platform. Snow was everywhere. We seemed to be the only ones around. We boarded the train and took our seats.
This was Alaska in a winter dress, showing us all its beauty. Like an ice queen. We looked around, not sorry to bid it farewell, not going to miss the bitter cold. She would great us with spring on return.
Two men suddenly appeared, vanished into the dark blue locomotive which promised a soon departure., The engines roared into life and we rolled forward at a gentle speed. The train lurched forward, accelerating at a frightening rate. We looked around puzzled, but still nobody to be seen.
On the train went. We approach a station, roared past it, then the next, and the next.
Could we be on a Runaway train?
