A Thousand Wishes Spun
by GregoryCody
My line of sight is still between these walls
The overbearing granite statues stand- before my breath, before my life began I'm looking shocked on scattered remnants tall These walls were walking back beyond my past My sun denied behind their shoulders trapped So darkness blankets hope ~ a distance mapped among the onyx raindrops splashing flat. A blurry dance of demons grinning, stout Disguises mask my brothers' faces numb My life has lived a thousand wishes spun I see in one direction ~ always doubt A future viewed outside my wrinkled soul The days ahead are watched with darkened drapes I pray to break these walls to find escape My flaw is never seeing ~ beautiful |

I find that my flaw is having a negative, doubtful eye on life. Sometimes it's hard to see the beauty in the world if you've only been shown its ugliness. I picture two large overbearing walls blocking my direction to go anywhere different, see anything differently. They block the sun so I walk in the shadows. I look back and see they have been standing my entire life. I wish they would fall so I could see the beauty in the world.
