Where Reading Can Take You (Shape Poem)
A chapter in the book Commentary and Philosophy
Journey on Track
by Treischel
Come along this journey with me
To places where we've never gone Pack up Get set It won't begin riding sailing ships Nor will we adventure in planes But still Fun waits Get ready for some great trips Just to journey, with your mind Thrill ride Over time Search the past, seek far away Find new futures, or old times Read books Learn things Come along this journey with me To places where we've never gone |
Reading Books is like going an a journey. Not Physically, but in your mind.
This poem was inspired by Ritchie, 9999pool. He wrote a Poem, Worlds Apart, that was based on a Trinet by Zion, that was supposed to look like a railroad tracks, or Jpourney. Well that got me thinking. I modified it quite a bit and came up with this. I call the form - Railroad Track Free Verse.
This poem has two stanzas of 8 lines, and an ending couplet that repeats the first two lines.
The word count is either 6 or 2. The syllable count is:
77227722 77227722 77. No rhyming scheme.
You must be careful with word selection to hold the shape.
So, does this look like railroad tracks?
The picture of the tracks is mine.
