Be Still

Psalm 46:10

by amada

One dim morning walking by a Christian shop a dainty picture frame caught my eyes. Perfection. Seven inch square frame in rich golden wood, black glass-like background, and at the center in striking bronzed handwritten letters, these simple words:

Be
Still
&
Know
that I am God.

I wanted it but it was pricey and I was short of money. I let it go. Next day, like a hungry beggar I rushed to the window again. It
was still there, I remembered my grocery list; I let it go again. The next day I woke up to a revelation: God wanted me to trust
Him. I bought it.

Today, almost ten years later it still stands on my mantel, the glass doesn't shine as bright, and the golden letters are subdued.
Still, it gives me the spiritual strength to continue my path with the Lord.

When I perceive the world crumbling around, He reminds me: "be still."

When I am disheartened, it reminds me of His omnipotence: "I am God."

When I have doubts about myself, it calls me to be just the best I can be in this simple word: "Be."

And for Him, I am.
