100 Word Story Contest Winner
You could hear a pin drop when Coach Flood walked through the locker room door at half-time.
"I'll keep this short and to the point," he said, looking his players straight in the eye. With his crooked smile and laughing eyes, his intent was to break the tense feeling which engulfed his team.
"I know you guys didn't forget how to play basketball. But ... this is OUR house! We rule this dominion. It's our defense that puts the strangle-hold on teams here, not their's on us!"
He stepped to the center of his squad. "Stay focused. It's the end result we want." He stuck his arm out, palm down. "All hands in. Win or lose... I'm proud of you! But now let's crank it up in the second-half and make your mamas cry when we bring home the State Championship!"
